What is that instrument in Norah Jones's music, specifically at the beginning of "Shoot the Moon"? That guitary kind of sound with a slight metallic ring seems fairly distinct.

Also, does anyone know of some good samples of it?

You mean the guitar?

It sounds like it is going through a phaser or flanger or both.

Hard to tell for sure with the effects, but I would say a Fender Telecaster on the both pick-ups position.

You can sample a guitar, but it's VERY hard to make it sound convincing. You can try a sampled dry/clean electric guitar (PettingHouse published a free one recently) and put it through a flanger/phaser/chorus effect.

I don't have that song but what I can say for sure that the norah's guitarist plays Gibson or similar guitar like that, dobro mmm let me think... I remember a telecaster in "what I'm to you" live version.

Anyway,
