Don't know if this is the right forum to ask this but I first considered this to be a host problem but now I'm not so sure.
I've been doing some collabs with guys from the States at the auditorium. Problem we ran into was that after loading files into our projects the files dindn't line up correctly. They were usually about 1/8 of a measure off-sync.
We finally figured out the problem is on my side.
What I do is I record files in 24 bit in Cubase SX 2.2. Convert them to 16 bit wav and so far no problem. Now I want to convert the 16 bit files to mp3 and that's where things start to go wrong.
Lets say the 16 bit file starts at measure 5 in my project The primary time display reads 5.01.01.000 I convert this file to mp3 using the acoustica mp3/wav converter. When I reload this file into my project the audio doesn't start at measure 5. Somehow a short silence has been added before the audio starts. Reading the primary time display the audio starts at about 5.01.01.010 or 5.01.01.025.
I've used another free converter with the same results and also tried rendering to mp3 in Cubase itself. All to no avail.
Can anyone help?

Thats a nasty feature of mp3 encoding I'm afraid, nothing you can do about it..
.. except use Ogg Vorbis instead of course (sounds better too): www.vorbis.com

I think you will find they do. Whether they notice or not is another matter
