Those were the Michael Fischer set of samples that are also found on hyperreal.org:

Ten volume changes or ten tune changes?
Sorry I meant pitch changes.

@Rangtangtang:
I also have the schematics of a 808 and 909. I could build a new unit and sample it from it :-)

I have downloaded the samples from Michael's website. I start comparing them to my device tonight. First listenings show, they're sounding equal.

The samples are from 1994 ... I could do them in 88.2 kHz, if you want.
The problem is, I don't have access to a real 808 and 909. I could also sample them at highest resultion with any knob-setting.

Is it needed? Do KVR-users want a free 808/909 based on emulation or real device?

That's why I don't like free projects.

Damn ... all the time for nothing.
:-o Hey, don't stop it, making a free project is the best thing you can do, thanks to you! Vince

Hey TobWen:
DON'T STOP THE PROJECT.
I think the idea is very good.
I used to own a Novation DrumStation, and it
sounds fantastic. So if the sound source is
not a real 808 or 909 is ok for me.
I already have lots of 808/909 samples, but
every sample set sounds different, and the
amount of variation you're planning to do is
totally wellcome. And the idea of the custom
sampler is a great one.

It would be nice to have a decent 808/909 raw soundset sampled in 96/24... man, that's a great idea! Yep, don't stop the project.

I second what sebo said, too.

I played with the 808 Kick sample and it sounds triffy . Seeing the 808 manual remided me I used to own one.

Cheers!

Okay, I will work on it in the next days and months and create a website for this.

Sorry - a 96k 808? seriously? there would be no difference whatsoever from a 16 bit 44.1 set - i defy anyone to tell the difference!

you must be kidding soniccouture. but anyway, you can always resample it to 44/16 if you like, nobody's stopping you :hihi:.

I would say 24bit 44khz would be better, I don't think anyone would hear the difference if sampled a 96khz either.

It's madness to sample in 24/96 for these sounds.
And by the way, tuning and envelopes can be done in any sampler so you only need one sample with the longest decay and everything else can be twisted with your sampler afterwards.
And we allready have soooooooo many samples and emulations from these two mashines allready so what's really the point sampling it again again......
