So....how's your Kore?

I was thinking of buying Kore. I don't own komplete so I'm not sure how usefull it would be. It sounds buggy, but I assume it will be fixed in the future.

More than issues with bugs I'm still a little confused as to what it actually does. I suppose I could check guitar center and see if they have a demo set up, however since I stumbled upon this thread I'm just basically asking what it does. Yes I have read the N.I. site.

However it seems that it is basically a preset manager with midi assignments built in for the Kore controller.

I mean is that all it is?

If you own Komplete I can see how it would make a great midi controller and help with organization, however if you don't own complete it seems that it would just be a glorified midi controller?

Don't get me wrong I love N.I. They made Reaktor and I really enjoy that. I just am curious as to if it is more or less a midi controller/preset manager before I spend money on it.

Really it sounds like simply an organizational tool. Which I can understand if you own Komplete.

Well, *if* you need a VST controller, there's probably no faster way to assign parameters to some (interactive!) knobs than with Kore.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

And from what I've seen, all the bugs we submit get a responce and usually a fix very quickly.
Hey, I know it's hard work, but I really lost a lot of things that made me buy Kontakt in the first place. I still can't switch to Kontakt 2, because of bugs with Cubase. That just doesn't seem right to me.

We should all become programmers. That way we could all make a bunch of crappy stuff ourselves and have only ourselves to blame. Maybe then we'd appreciate what it takes and stop whining so much :)

I do the same thing (whining) but only because it's easier than learning to program audio stuff :)

It's a bummer that KORE is having issues, but consider that it's NI's first foray into the hardware control sector, and couple that with their first attempt at doing a 'host-like' system, etc. and you will inevitably come to the conclusion that the launch product is definitely going to be buggy. It's just fact; the more complex something becomes the more difficult it is to make it work properly, and the more variables involved (here we are talking seriously millions probably) the more time consuming it is to eliminate them.

Quite honestly, I'm somewhat amazed that computers work at all. :) I think it's magic! We should all just stop complaining and sing praises to the magic computer gods that make things work so that the gods will favor us with working products. Maybe we should perform a blood sacrifice of some forum trolls in their honor?

:hihi:

Seriously, don't give up so quickly. Look at the minor version numbers of all NI products and the story is clear; they are notoriously bad at providing a flawless product at launch. Every single product has atleast a .1 or .2 and sometimes a .1.3 or a .2.4 or whatever. It's not their fault either entirely atleast, because companies like Adobe who are also engineering software, also have struggled in the /audio/ domain - the products they build outside of audioland are almost flawless at launch. Why? Because they have less variables to deal with. Low-level hardware stuff is /much/ more finnicky than anything else I wager!

So give the guys a break and have patience. You paid $500 for this stuff in the hopes it would change things for you for the better, and it probably will but only if you stick it out :)

Come on, let's chant to the computer gods together so that they can favor us with bug-free audio software...

ohhhhhhmmmmmm

i was thinking about kore - but then all the buginess reminded me I don't need another sound card or particulalry want guitar rig & elektrik piano

but if you can assign controls really easily - like right click then wiggle - i might be in

what would be the clincher is how easily it is to edit these things - i picture turning a knob and having it affect about 8 parameters - some over short parts of the full rotation, some inverted, some non linearly, some over a short part of their possible rotation but over the whole knobs one

all these things can be done in cubase just now but it ain't exactly easy - have NI got this right ?
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Can you please name the VSTs you can't see?

I own a lot of NI products including Reaktor, Absynth and Kontakt. But anyone who buys an NI product as version 1.0 is asking for trouble.

Ni's reputation is absolutely terrible for initial releases. Anyone who reads music forums should know better than to jump in on release.

With NI you wait. And wait. And wait. Usually they'll eventually come out with a usuable version. But until then, don't touch it.

I don't get this on my system I have to say - it sounds a bit like maybe a configuration issue on your setup. With KORE plugged in and on but no processes running (apart from the usual services) my system reads at 0-2%. Unplugging it makes no difference.

I think it's hilarious that complaints, problems, and frustrated users are ignored almost by policy on NI's actual forums but when they start getting some bad press here on KVR somehow people from NI tend to show up.

What a weird company.

that maybe cos there forums are populate by people who have already handed over dosh.
Here there are likely many more potential dosh hander-overs.
Or I may just be really cynical - prolly am.
Verison 1 complex software - no matter how excellent the bugtesting there are going to be issues, especially with particular configurations etc.

? Steffan or EW have responded to all of my posts on the KORE forum - I've not seen that happen.

The bugs as you say are to an extent to be expected and hopefuly are resolveable. However, from another perspective, I was not pleased that certain features I had expected to be implemented such as record (seeing as there is a record button on KORE hardware and software interfaces) and full midi controller functionality are not yet implemented - that in my opinion should not have been allowed to happen. should have been made clear in the advertising rather than buried in the manual, and should be top priority to implement.

Can you explain me why i ignore a complaint when i ask for details, so that i can try to fix it?

I've been here a long time and back in the day Steffen would come here on his own not becasue NI told him to.

Looks to me that he is doing the same thing here and just wants to be helpful.

Like I said, similar complains *ON YOUR FORUMS* are almost always ignored. Complaints *ON THIS FORUM*, particularly when they draw a lot of attention, seem to often draw a response from NI. You guys have your priorities backwards.
