So I finnally got into the whole "side-chain" thing, and I'm about to fork out the $$$ for Kjaerhus' GUP-1 but before I do is there any other SC compressor out there I should check out? the TC one seems to be discontinued and I'm not interested in a Waves bundle. Does Voxengo make one?

Crunchessor; also Vanilla Compressor has a sidechain; as good as these both, and free.

Crunchessor is a really good alternative to the Kjaerhus compressor.

So I'm going to settle on OptiumFX's Compadre, after a quick demo and the help of their free video tutorial I was sold and only for $49!!
I thik I'll start a new thread to let people know about this puppy and the tutorial.

Compadre is an awesome plug-in. The only downside to Compadre is that it's more CPU-demanding than GUP-1 or Crunchessor, depending on the number of tracks you want to run at once.

Yep, it's a great one, and I don't have the feel that it's cpu consumption is particularly demanding (but haven't done a real comparison..).bduffy wrote:Compadre is an awesome plug-in. What I especially like is the fact that every knob/handle really causes changes which are audible. The icing on the cake would be an additional BPF mode in the side chain.
At this price an absolute no-brainer.
cheers,
