I can install it over without having to uninstall the old one, right?

Yup. Really convenient!
ALso softsynth, i +1 your FRs. They are EXACTLY what i would have requested minus the arp.
I do have more but i'll get to em later, i have a song to finish.

Hey Bram,

Since others have mentioned Hammerhead, I figured I would chime in as well. I use to use that app back in the day. And I have to say, it was a real blast!

So thanks for your work. And it's great to see you still keeping at it! Best of luck with your new projects.

Take care,
A

OK,I tested the new release.
It finally works! (with the ASIO4ALL and kX ASIO) The VSTi window bugger is also gone :)
The testing keyboard in the piano roll works, but some kind of visual feedback on key click is really needed.

- One more thing to fix to get it usable: When you made a piano roll sequence while in VSTi or Sampler mode, when changing the channel mode from Sampler to VSTi or vice versa (but not Drum Track),Tunafish should preserve the sequence and not erase it when switching between these 2 modes. This is the last of the big annoyances in Tunafish to get rid of.Tunafish should erase only when switching to/from the Drum track mode to other modes.

Good suff,Bram.
Extremely simple and effective

S.HUSH,I have a few more suggestions, but those few I posted and this one are the most critical issues.

I already did :) (see my previous post)

actually, my current host allows me to switch between drum track and note modes without erasing the note duration/ placement or the drum arrangement other then a note arrangement will become all c3's when changing to/from a 'drum' view.

I find this *very* handy when working out notation.
But that's just me, I guess.

(I'm always looking into new things :) )

I wouldn't think that would cause any complications to the end-user when considering the key word, 'simplicity'.
for entertaining porpoises only

Here are the last few annoying buggers in Tunafish:

- When you scroll horizontally,I would like the piano roll display to stay(scroll) as it is,like the current behavior of 1.5.2 when scrolling vertically.
- I would like to be able to right click on a channel's mute switch to toggle solo for that track (mute all the others)
- When clicking on the Open VSTi Editor button,if a VSTi window is already open,it should close it,not reopen it.
- The gatemask needs more presets (especially for house, dance and trance music). There are very few now. It's the most useful effect of the built-in ones.
Is a simple step-sequenced Gator too complex to be included in this app? Or maybe not? (like the simple one in MiniMogue VA)

And that's almost all of my "complaints" about Tunafish.

Or maybe convert it from Step Sequencer to Piano Roll and vice versa like FL Studio does? (this is even better)

Guys, thanks for testing and encouraging. I really appreciate all the suggestions.

And here's the last couple of suggestions (I think):

- It would be a very cool feature if you could map the Drum Pattern Sequencer samples to the typing keyboard keys (for example, the default 14 samples to keys from 'Z' to '?' and 'Q' to 'R' and if you add additional samples, then use the rest from 'T' to ']'
- Joypad/joystick controller support (as MIDI controllers) Most of us have one,so why not use it with the MIDI-Learn feature? It would rock.

Post

You know we wan't multi out vsti, but multi out's on the drums, and sampler would be super too. :)

By that I mean be able to play a kick on track 1,snare on track 2 at the same time from my controler.

Bram, you should update the Tunafish PDF reflecting the new changes in 1.5.2.

BUGS in Tunafish:

- There's a bug in Tunafish that produces dropouts when recording MIDI notes.
Also dropouts happen during playback with multiple samples on a drum sampler channel. It seems to have some kind of polyphony / speed limit or a serious bug.

- When pressing 'Ctrl+A' in the piano roll, different kinds of errors and exceptions appear.

- Another Feature request: "Show black keys" option in the Sampler Piano Roll by darkening the areas a bit where black notes are (like in FL Studio)

- A recording precount option will also be a great addition.

Thanks, softsynth, I'll see if I can reproduce them (a few minutes testing can't seem to reproduce the ctrl-A bug, though). I'll keep you posted.
