getting back into the groove

well i have been out of the loop for a while due to work commitments but now im wanting to get back into music production again,i was a using live before and it was doing a ok job but there were a lot of bugs which really got to me, i have been following the progress of live and it now has PDC,has it been implemented well ? and dual cpu support is on the way, the thing that gets me with live is that everything seems to be a rushed job and the program itself is not well written hence a lot of bug fixes also the layout really is not the best,i have a 30in screen and i wish to see both the mixer and the tracks on the same screen, what Daws allow you to change your viewing options ???

i have been looking at other options to live and Podium is one that looks to have a decent layout and a great programmer/support,im not sure of the midi side of things,Samplitude is another one which seems to have a nice layout but then again the midi has only just been added, any reports on this ?

i tend to stick with only a few vsts, Reaktor being the main one and a few other effects, i like looping/mashing up... sorta hybrid progressive sound..

sorry to say this but try try try and try. The host has to suit you, nobody else.

well in regards to screen layout there must be some hosts which are better than the live option, the way podium has the mixer under the tracks looks decent, im just worried about the midi side of things

Try REAPER

(even though it's still in beta stage).
You might forget about Live and Samplitude and start using this instead.
It's less than 1MB in size,so there's nothing to lose if you try it

Definetely take a look at Tracktion, and maybe FL Studio or Orion.

I like FL Studio, I would recommend it, but like Superddman said before, the host will suit you.
