... indeed, thanks !

unfortunately, i wish the playlist would adapt to the changes. It would make sense.

yup 8)

now, the problem im running into is changing time sigs....

what i do is use the normal beat of 17 --- then when i want a 4/4 beat, i shorten the playlist to 16 steps-- this is 8 beats.

problem is, we get this:

the measures are all staggered until measure 22!!

perhaps there would just be a time signature you could always set it to, and a ppq you could set it to, that would allow all time sigs within it, and line up generally nice.

Hey man, the question is, do you want the whole song to fit this structure? Because you could have this beat loop without having it restart in time with everything else and just copy/paste 17 times until it fits in an amount of bars and then use the playlist, in 4/4 global settings. Otherwise 17/2 and 17/4 would work just as well you may just have to copy paste and have the pattern be double which isn't a big deal.

eg. do a 17/8 measure and objects/loop points et c. want to snap to 4/4 (output can be correct tho, just not all amenities)

remember us, host devs!
:?:
what's the problem looping this in logic 4.8.1 ?

Im not totally getting you, but i doubt i would have an entire song like this...

but i have always been into dave brubecks "out of time" or whatever it was -- rondo ala turk -- went back and forth from 11/8 ( think) to 4/4 -- cool stuff...

also, then you have dream theater, which can take you on a ride with time sigs -- and i love that.

Well how much control do you want to have with the switch between 17 and 4? because I would then map it out in FL (can it do sig changes?) with the grid for what you want to do in 17/4 and 4/4, but you could keep it in 4/4 the whole time and fudge it as well by making long parts manually in the piano roll. Obviously I haven't been reading this thread though.

..it cant do time sig changes, conventionally... it can have different length patterns -- but the overall playlist does not change...

So let me get this straight:

FL studio can't do odd time signatures?

WOW!

In any case, could you work out the midi file in another, more time-change friendly editor, and import it into FL?

Thats what I do with Tracktion. Not because it can't handle time changes, but because I just don't like its midi editor.

It can take a while, but not nearly as long as it would take a band to learn it. And in the meantime, you don't have to clean up the mess that musicians can leave behind.

Midi: how I love it.

I was disappointed at the lack of 17/8 in your recent loops collection. There's clearly a call for it.

Now with improved MIDI jitter!

I fudged with the midi file posted; the only way I could get it to "work" was to to set the project to a 4/2 sig, make your beat twice as long in the piano roll, set the pattern length to 17 in the step sequencer box and then double the project tempo.

For some reason I couldnt get the piano roll to take a 17 beat pattern in 4/4... it kept forcing it to 2 bars of 16 (lots of silence at the end). Weirdadelic.
Ideas are bulletproof... I am not.

Yeah, I've heard that A LOT.

I am working on a future collection that will run through meters containing each of the prime numbers up to 7 digits.

But first I have to buy more bandwidth to keep up with the expected demand.

Perhaps you could work out a new, twelve-tone-system based Chordspace with aleatoric options for simultaneous release.

Serialism is gonna come back in a big way, I just know it
