Kontakt problems with Carina

Hi Precision maestros,

Just realised that the subject line sounds like girlfriend trouble. But
it's even more serious than that...

The Hagström Carina is seriously quirky on my Kontakt 2.1 system:
G5 double core 2.3 GHz, loads of RAM, Tiger 10.4.6, latest NI update
(eagerly awaited!) of Kontakt, 2.1.

Basically, trying to play through MIDI, notes behave crazily. If I hold
down one key, then play additional staccato notes, the intended
staccato notes just sustain as if I were holding down the sustain pedal.
When playing chords, some notes will sustain, others won't sound at all, and
so on...

However.

The Weltmeister accordion .nki:s play just fine in Kontakt 2.1!

And...

The EXS24 and Halion Carina programs *also* play just fine when
imported into Kontakt 2.1.

Further, the problems described above are the same if I play the Carina
Kontakt 2 (or 1) instruments using the small MIDI Keys utility for
virtual input (playing the computer keyboard) or using my
hardware MIDI interface (MOTU Fastlane).

So...

There seems to be something fishy with your Carina Kontakt (1 and 2)
programs that apparently didn't show up in Kontakt 2 but cause havoc in
Kontakt 2.1.

As a workaround, I could save the EXS24 programs as .nki:s, but it
would be nice if you would try to locate and rectify the problem...

Also, it would be interesting to know if any other Mac-based Kontakt 2.1 users
out there have a similar experience.

Again, the Weltmeister works just fine, so there must be something with
wonderful Carina...

Best regards,

Joey

Hello!
Sorry for late reply. We will take a deeper look into the Kontakt programs. The solution for now is to use the giga version in Kontakt.

Hi Lars,

Many thanks for the updated Kontakt 2 Carina programs that I just downloaded.

Everything now works just as it should in K2, keyswitches and all! :)

The Carina is a really playable instrument and it's going to be one of my favourite sampled accordions (I'm too lazy to learn to play a real one, and then there's the neighbour problem :D ). Good work with the Carina, guys!

Best regards,

Joey
