If even the VST doesn't work , you probably need the MS Java install, which you can find linked on the Windows FAQ link on the homepage of the CPS folks.

Ive got the Sun Java runtime on this system and that works fine here.

Thanks for the info, I will deinstall the MS one then, since I have (a few) Sun ones as well.
I only thought it would cure the "standalone not working" problem, but apparently doesn't do anything at all then.

So CPS even without the browser add-on requires Java installed? I guess I won't be installing it then, been Java free since 2003 (I'd love to slap the arsehead who thought that unsigned Java-based web applets was a good idea).

I'd recommend the sun one (maybe the latest 1.4x as they are the most used/stable), MS' is not supported anymore (since a rather long while already).
I don't understand people bitching about not wanting to install java, it's not anymore like the java-IE horror it used to be when MS had their own distribution.

Mebbe not. I couldnt remember installing Java on the previous incarnation of my audio system (XP3200), so I tried it on my new one (A64 X2 3800). CPS starts up fine on the new DAW, but I definitely dont have Java on that system (an incredibly slow install on the X2, though, for some reason.)

To be honest, I don't think I've ever used the MS virtual machine thing. I had always used the Sun one. And still don't want the thing installed (once I no longer needed to have it installed for work, it was one of the first things to go, been happy ever since).

I'm using a fresh install of XP Pro, no extra Java stuff, & CPS works fine.

Warning, rant:

Well so much for CPS, I'm not impressed. Not at all! CPS = a wannabe developement platform wich requires a sh*tload of unnecesery components wich the installer doesn't help you to locate. How much did this shit cost? Was sure not worth it. Software I download and installs should work from the very start if I should be any intrested in using it.Deleted!
