Shitload of components? Works out of the box on XP, might need Java on other systems. Bit of an exaggeration there. And no the installer doesnt help but the download page points you right at the frigging download for Java, two centimetere below the installer link.

How much did this shit cost?

It was $150, and if someone, for example, wanted a synthesis engine that would run in Director, then that was reasonable. As it is, its now free.

Was sure not worth it.

Who the hell are you to decide that for anyone else?

Software I download and installs should work from the very start if I should be any intrested in using it.Deleted!

Aww diddums. Just as well you never had to do anything difficult to get a program to work, like compile and install it from source, like you used to have to do with things like PD.
Gawd, imagine having to install a runtime interpreter and a program all in a row. The torture! The shame!

Please note that ServicePackages from Microsoft do NOT include the virtual machine (anymore). You can dowload a copy right here. Installing Sun's Java VM does NOT matter: CPS doesn't use Sun's Java VM.

I hadn't read this properly. I hesitate installing the Java MS VM.

Can anyone give me a link to the files i need to download, please? I have java installed already, and i can see the source code and all, but i cant open the standalone version.

If it still refuses to open in standalone mode after installing java , try to open an example demo by double clicking on the files, that's what made the standalone open here. Directly on the exe it won't do anything apparently (for whatever reason).

Well I'm not a big fan of programs that requires you to install extra stuff that you don't really need if you get my point. If like 10-15 apps are using it then I really have no choice but to install it.
But if just one program uses it then I really think that it is waste of space.

About the installer issue not providing a valid link to what is needed, it just looks unprofessional to avoid giving the end user the link straight in the installer. If I made such a program then I had no choice to avoid such issues. Just to let the end user skip some problems that it raises.

There is a direct download link to a MS Java VM build, albeit not the more recent one.

Dont run the .exe; use the shortcut installed in the start menu.

Yeah, that's what I found out now as well, some hidden command line arguments (I already guessed it would have something to do with the command line, but wouldn't notice that there's a start menu item

)

Finially a way to do decent (nay, awesome) audio stuff in Director!

drop CPS2VST.dll into your VST folder.
You'll find it in the folder labelled sdk.

cps is free!
