Why not a universal audio-to-MIDI from FrettedSynthAudio?

Check out this Idea: A plugin that would allow me to play any softsynth with the audio from my guitar, just like I can do with Tripplead and String Sculptor 2! It would have to affect the synth somehow to make it temporarily monophonic but how hard could that be? I'd love the chance to play my cronoX or Delta III or FearkillerX2 or CM101 or Crystal with the guitar. So what does everybody think? Good idea?

I should really corner someone and cast aspersions on their manhood/womanhood until
they make a voice-to-midi plugin that, in a somewhat similar way to Synful Orchestra, has a smart pitchbend (sort of like Fractal Tunesmithy for that matter) so that it mostly follows the natural pitch glides of the voice instead of warbling uncontrollably from the "fretted" notes that midi deals with (I love SuperEel, I probably use it more than anyone else! but I'm getting pretty freakin' irked at the midi standard's not being updated to make non-fretted sounds, it's really getting ridiculous - we can capture a convolution of a cathedral's echo, have 2024-band spectral delays, sample an entire freaking orchestra and no one has managed how to sort out the ability to make live, expressive, fretless pitches!?).
Oh yeah bump.

Ah yes, been meaning to suggest this. FrettySynth seems to have a nice pitch > midi algorithm going so would be nice to make a dedicated plugin especially with the suggestions of runagate, sounds unstoppable? ;D

spuddle, some days you keep me from dressing in sackcloth and accosting strangers on the street. Always glad to have you around.spuddle wrote:Ah yes, been meaning to suggest this. Are you talking about FrettedSynths PhazOsc VSTi? If so I asked him about it in the FreeAmpSE 1.5 Update thread:

Quick q.
That phaze.distortion synth, does it actualy track the note of an audio input and convert it to a midi note, or is it different? Would it be difficult to add a midi output to it so you can trigger other synths with it? I've been looking at a few audio-midi plugins and I cant seem to get anything decent out of them - your synth tracks it rather well, so would that be possible?

Hi WoJ
No! PhazOsc uses no MIDI for audio trigger, it instead uses control voltage which gives much more range then MIDI could ever give. If I created a MIDI version all the smooth bends and wiggles would be gone Sad That is why I started the synths in the first place, to provide more control.
