well --

again at the fact that ACID cant seem to get through scanning my vst effects.

Once again, total let down.

Just when everything else seemed right

not even an error message as to which one causes the freeze up -- i had to hard restart my pc.

It might be because of a bad VST. Mine is working fine. Are VSTis working ok?

try this

Close acid down, open up your start menu, open the run box and type regedit, go to this location 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Media Software\ACID Pro\6.0\Metrics\VSTi Synth\Plugs' right click on the 'plugs' folder and delete it, restart acid.

yeah, believe it or not.. just got BFD working...

i just hate it how i cant figure out which one is causing the problem.

it seems to be moving past the part it crashed before!

Here's an odd one: I had no problem with any of my vsti's. Except the bundled sony version of Kompakt! It works fine in all my other hosts, but won't in Acid. Go figure.

Yeah, that is really odd. Especially, if it works in other hosts. First time I have ever heard of that before. What happens, it does not even open or crashes?
Did this happen in ACID Pro 6 and also the 6a update. Have you tried to un-install 6 completely and then re-stall the 6a update fresh after a re-boot? Maybe the ACID registry entry for the Kompact is corrupt. You may need to contact Sony support directly, to get it ironed out.

It finds it and puts it on the list. Then when I try to insert it, nothing happens and it disappears from the list. In general, the vsti implementation is maddening. The boxes in the vsti options window cannot be checked or unchecked, for one thing. For another, it hasn't the intelligence to ignore duplicate listings. (and, as duplicate listings -- or anything, for that matter -- cannot be "de-selected" from the options page, there's a dead end right there.) For another, about half the time the folders are rescanned the program crashes. Sometimes it locks the machine. (This is after carefully weeding out vst folders for duplicates.)
I have too much work to do *with* programs to spend so much time working *on* programs.
If I really needed Acid I'm sure I could find some way to make it work: I could build a house out of popsicle sticks as well.
Someday when I haven't got music to make to pay bills....

How on earth can you have 'duplicate' vst's? That alone smells of PEBCAC. If you don't keep your machine in tip top shape, don't expect it to act all nice for you. I am having 0 problems with 6.0a right now.

Anyway, did you try what i posted up there ^^^ concerning hard refreshing your vst folder?

what the heck!!!! now it crashes... Do i have to do that registry thing everytime i start my pc???

it gives an ntdll.dll or whatever error and crashes...

sucks too, cause it really seems acid has come along.

why cant all hosts scan for plugins like FL...

I have no idea what 'nt.dll' is. I think you guys should buy Macs

NTDLL.DLL is a core component of Windows 2000/XP operating system.

I'd suggest you to erase your harddisk and reinstall all from scratch.

I use to do it from time to time.

Acid pro 6.0a vst effects refresh....
