What does this?

Instead of spending my typical two weeks checking out every possible plugin, I figured I'd just ask.
I have several very long audio files {synth... not noise} that I'm just experimenting with. I was thinking that a few effects I could really use are... A filter that will split a file into two or more frequencies, let me mess around with each signal separately and then recombine them. {a bit like a ring modulator}
Specifically... I have a longish file that's not much more than a series of tones. I was messing with RetroDelay applied to it and managed to come up with a sweeping feedback sound that, with a delay, gives me a beat that works very nicely with the tones. This sounds very cool but I can't get the feedback to sound the way I want it to. So... I was thinking that something dedicated to this sort of function might be nice.
A second thing... A gapping plugin, like the one in Sound Forge, that's adjustable over very long periods of time... I'm actually thinking a sort of wave effect so the delay would get slightly larger each time. Like an echo.

arcdev's resomatic may allow you to play the feedback, but it would need to be on a send from the delay, I think.

I wasn't really clear there... the feedback works as a sort of harmonic...ouroboros wrote:arcdev's resomatic may allow you to play the feedback, but it would need to be on a send from the delay, I think.
Resomatic looks very nice though. Maybe I could just re-do the whole thing in midi.

1 beat, 2 beat, 3, beats, etc. for the length of the file so that it just cuts a chunk {progressively longer chunk?} at progressively longer intervals. Somehow, I doubt it... I doubt there's much need for that sort of thing. I did look around though... I can do that in midi as well. {:} slowly}

cairo came to mind b/c iirc, the most recent update automated the interval slicing on a midi channel. so you could skip from 1/16 -> 1/8...1->2->3 with midi automation.
Good luck brave sir, it may be midi afterall!

You're plenty of help. I'd not have known about Resomatic if you hadn't mentioned it. Even if it doesn't work exactly the way I wanted it to... I've got some ideas flowing. The other's a pretty strange concept anyway :} "Circular notation" or "radial-wave composition" or something like that. Something I have in my head and want to see if I can give it form.ouroboros wrote:I'm no help at all, just the only guy around here on a Saturday nite!
