SS2 Stand-alone and UB?

Hi Squids!
I'm a little bit surprised that SS2 didn't get the 2.1 update of ST2 with stand-alone, mouse-wheel support, etc. You've alluded to another update down the road, but will it be that long for a 2.x update?
Also, can you give us a progress update on the Universal Binary versions of the IK product line? It still says Q2, so hopefully it's soon.
Lastly, do you have any idea if IK will support NI's KORE by having a way to access it's patch names in their database? I'm not sure if this would need to be an XML document or some type of proprietary format. Have you heard anything at all? It would be great to build these great stacks that include IK product!
Cheers!
Marcel

SS2.1 would have been nice I know. But, we have a bigger update planned so it is going to be likely that it is in one shot and all efforts now with regard to SR/IK projects are focused on Studiophonik because it is super super late. Granted it will be worth the wait I think but still... we HAVE to get this done and it is a lot of work so that is our focus. We're not a factory! I will tell you guys that the SS2 update will involve a lot of "wow" patches that has been requested... plus things like syncable lfos, probably a stand alone mode and more.
I know that dual core is in the works. Not sure when. I don't think any effort has been made whatsoever with regard to Kore. Sounds like that might have to be a third party thing (like something SR would do, maybe). I don't have Kore so I don't have an opinion yet. Also, I don't know how many are really out there so there's always the question of "who are you supporting?". With products like Reason, Kontakt, SampleTank etc. you know you're supporting a large group of people. With something new, unless there is some affiliation you have with it then it is lower on the priority list.

Thanks for the update Dave. As always, I know that the update will be worth the wait (and I won't even ask you when you expect to release it!).
Regarding KORE, I'm assuming that it would just need a list of the factory patches in some format (XML?). I'll try to find out and let you know. Then you can tell me if it's simple to support or not worth the effort.
Take care, Dave!

It might be not inevitable to convince all SR/IK-Software users to buy NI-Kore since in the moment it seems at least to be another perhaps not realy necessary cpu-Power and resources consuming task for your Hardware. The inconvenient aspect of KORE seems to be that as a Plugin it is another host inside the host. I fear this doesnt make things realy easier.do you have any idea if IK will support NI's KORE
But....
The Idea to make a huge amount of sounds managable more comfortabel than browsing thousends of patches in a dozen of diffrent apps seems to me for the SR/IK-apps perhaps even more convenient than for many others. So it will be a promissing goal to think about a kind of global patch managment.
A first step forward would be the compatibility of not only SS but also MP and SP with ST2 which shouldn't be that unrealistic.
Another step would be to have a Patchorganizationsystem, that allows to combine the diffrent SR/IK Workstations, without getting lost in tons of parallel-categories. The Soundsearching System of Kore based of a set of chartacteristic attributes is at least a good Idea in this respect.
If a lean SR/IK-Patchmanaging software with adaption of NI-KORE-standards that would likewise facilitate the search and decision and loading of a certain sound (and plug) inside the Host-DAW, without lowering the Hardwareperformace, and would do this with even more than just SR/IK Patches, that kind of Software would be for me even the more competitive alternative to what NI has now presented with its Kore.
So SR/IK think about for the prospects of your Pipeline after SP-release

Maybe. What I would be more inclined to do is have our INFINITE INSTRUMENT series that are coming up mainly in Kontakt format (as well as other streaming samplers) support KORE. I think for ST-based products the world of ST will be enhanced to be able to handle more databasing between the diff modules/ST format products. But, as a third party developer I like to do mainly what the customers want so if we had a lot of requests for KORE support then we'd look into it. As it is though it isn't high on the priority list. First thing would be that I'd have to even HAVE one! lol

Maybe a nice first exercise to see if any wider or more elaborate use of that would make sense.
Anyway the more you give us one huge Sampleworkstation after the other, it becomes reasonable to think if, and how ever we can overlook all that beautiful sounds!Squids wrote:I think for ST-based products the world of ST will be enhanced to be able to handle more databasing between the diff modules/ST format products.
Oh please dont!Squids wrote:First thing would be that I'd have to even HAVE one! lol
