me again...
I got the audio effects working using and isert effect.
but...to liten to the audio (guitar) with the effect applied I have to click on the monitor button for that track. when I do this I get a bad latency...when I unclick it there is no latency but no effect...
I think I read somewhere about a work around on this...
maybe using the send back to my sound card (EMU-0404 w PatchMix).
The EMU-0404 PAtchmix has a bunch of effects which I can apply and then record. But ti would be nice to use the effects in Cubase.
anysuggestins?
thanks again...
the weekend is just about over so I'll be quiet for ther next few days!!

It sounds like you are very new to home recording, you have a lot of questions!

The EMU0404 should be able to give you satisfactory latency. Open Devices/Device Setup. Make sure under VST Multitrack that you have the EMU ASIO driver selected, not the ASIO Mulitmedia or Direct X Driver. Make sure your latency is set to less than 10ms. If this does not work, then you need to read up more on optimizing your computer. The EMU Forum is a very helpful place for getting started.

I think you asked about Cubase help in another thread. Here are some books, I think you might need one.
