I've been messing around with FL Stuio Production version, which is a lot of fun. Probably the easiest step seq around.
What I'm used to doing in other hosts though, is repeating a looped sequence a few times and recording a lead (either Audio or MIDI) throughout.
The tutorial in FL regarding recording shows that you can 'loop record' while a pattern is playing, resulting in multiple recordings lasting only as long as the original loop.
Am I missing somthing here? Is there a way to record a lengthy solo, etc., with a repeating pattern? Did I overlook a tutorial on the subject?
FL isn't my main host, but I would like to know if this basic recording technique is possible. Are there any Power Users out there that can point me in the right direction?

paste the loops in the playlist, tick song mode, use the select area to highlight the length of your recording loop (which may contain as many repeating patterns as you want) hit record and you're all set...if you need more pm me with your email and I'll make you an avi tutorial....

if I may be pardoned for hijacking this thread,
how do you paste anything in the piano roll??
Easy enough to copy, but pasting just, well, pastes over itself.
also, copying a pattern and dragging it to extend a pattern!?
I'd use FL a whole lot more if I just knew those two things.

The recording question: paste your loop in the playlist for as long as you like. Make sure you then select an empty pattern. Position the songcursor from where you want to record, arm the record button, press play and record all the stuf you like
For the pasting thing: select the notes you want to copy (ctr+drag with the mous). Then shift+drag, you'll notice that you're moving a duplicate of the original notes around.
Go through the pianoroll and workflow tutorials on the flsite to learn more, they're really worth it.

if the notes you are copying are at the first availble bar , that would paste the notes on top of themselves ...
directly after pasting , while the notes are still highlighted , you can drag the whole group , with the mouse ...
position the mouse at the center of any note , so the 4-way arrow shows ... left click , hold , and drag ...
alternately , scroll over to where you want to paste , prior to pasting ... you can adjust the placement , per the above method ...
for your second question , do you mean multiple copies , or actually lengthening the pattern ?...

hold the mouse over the end part of the last note , so the 2-way arrow appears ...
hold shift , left mouse , hold and drag ...
