Hi, just wandered over from the drunken bar fight over at the dev forum... I am wondering if anyone here has caught a wiff of an update to Logic Pro 7x or possibly v8 wafting through the air. I just graduated college, and I was thinking of getting version 7 at the student price while I still can, but when I realized that the "student version" is not eligible for upgrades I said "well f**k that!" So if any of your geeky software noses have sniffed out hints of a new aroma called potion no. 8, please let me know

As I understand, the student price is ridiculously low. Just get the damn thing and start learning. The time you waste waiting for the version with 'mystery gew-gaw addition X' is just that, wasted.

Logic is an incredibly rich program, and as a student you're getting a serious bargain. Jump in, and don't look back!

My geeky software nose says you can use Logic Pro 7.2 "from now till hell freezes over" to make music... so buy it!

Yeah, good points. I just don't want to get ripped off. I use Logic Express currently and It's a complete waste of money. Not having access to key features (EXS24 patching, sidechaining, recording > 15mins) is a really huge drawback. If I get logic pro at the student price now, I'll wind up spending more overall in the coming years than if I buy the full, upgradable version. Kind of a lame issue to have to think about. In the end the student option is a rip-off (pay less now, pay more later).

Just think how much a music degree at Cal Arts costs against its future value in the music profession.

The student option is the kind of 'rip-off' I'd like to see more of. I just had twin boys in January. Do I qualify for the 'new father option'? Kinda doubt it!

In any case, there's nothing stopping you from buying the full $900 monty, now is there? Then you can upgrade away to your hearts content.
