Hello, I am still new to FL Studio and was wondering if there was such a free VST out there that changed the way a voice sounds. I would like to record a phrase that I will speak into my microphone and change the sound of it in FL Studio. Kinda like how Daft Punk makes his vocals sound in his songs. Thanks!

The robotic sound, you mean? Use the Fruity Vocoder included with FL.

Thanks a lot, yeah I tried the vocoder and it didn't really change the voice dramatically. Thanks I will try Gsnap.

Something's not set right, then, newtoFL. The vocoder will alter the vocal ALOT- make it sound like a "talking synth". Think Air's "Sexy Boy".

Ok thanks, I tweaked all of the knobs and it didn't really do much, kinda sounded like an EQ. I will take your advice and try again.

Haha ok I got the vocoder changing the sound now, I had to use the 128 band. However it is still not what I am looking for. I will try to tweak a few things to see, but my original voice still sounds the same.

Do you have the vocal AND a synth input to the vocoder? It needs both a carrier (synth) and modulator (vocal track) to work. Don't give up yet, read the help file on it, I'm pretty sure you're going to like the results. Your voice will not sound the same

I have the wav file and I added it to FL Studio and applied the Fruity Vocoder effect to it and tried tweaking the knobs but nothing, so as you say I am sure I am missing something.

I do not understand how or where to get the Sinth and apply it to the vocoder. The Help file is very vague.

Thanks, the tutorial demo in FL Studio helped me figure it out. Weird why they would make it that complex, why not just have an automatic synth applied or built in with the vocoder already?

It's the standard set-up for stand alone vocoders. Some synths (like my hardware microKORG) have it all built in, and that does make it fun and easy. This FL Vocoder is a really fine vocoder, though, the nicest I've heard.
The benefit is you can choose which synth you want to use as the carrier, I have great results with the Pentagon synth. You can also use whatever sound you want as both the carrier and modulator, so I'll use an electric guitar track in place of the synth, or a drum track in place of the vocal. Experiment. You can create some amazing unusual sounds. I could vocode crap for hours!
Anyway, I'm glad you got it figured out.

Thanks, I may have to mess with it some more since I can get it to work in the demo but not in the real song, but I am sure I can get that to work. One problem I am noticing is how you cannot understand what the vocals are saying, I hope that is easily fixed.

Some type of way to change the way vocals sound?
