DAMN!!! I want to say it doesnt matter how it LOOKs!! BUt this is one of the best GUI's I have seen..

The knobs remind me of my DBX 165 compressor,, and I love how that looks too..

Is the logo ok? I wasn't sure, but I figured the keyboard keys on a guitar body with a funky guitarish (we wont mention any names) script logo would be good?
The logo is perfect :D

Dude you are really good at graphics, with the chessey SE UI I sent you of the synth! you come up with that, How can I complain?

The whole thing is going to be so much more easy to setup, and YEP! I'm a geek, the UI still sits as my desktop for my net machine  Can't wait to have the controls really move.

Fretted Synth
:) good. I was worried about that.

Thanks for the compliment. The cheesy UI is the blueprint though, so I needed that! :)

:D I was kidding about the geek comment BTW but if you need to know when I say "geek" or "nerd" it's with affection as I am one myself, etc. :)

I will animate and export soon. This weekend I'm busy with 2nd job so I will try to do it weeknights before this weekend.

Those controls will be moving soon ;)

thanks guys, it's been a blast making it. now comes the really fun part - slice/dice/animate. :D

I love the undying tenacity you guys have! Great work. Very inspiring. :D

What can I say grymmjack, you have outdone yourself this time ... :D

I have already made Kasper from KarmaFX an offer of marriage, Fretted and Grymm are definitely suitors too :P

Seriously tho - you guys are creating something brilliant and I hope someday my SE/programming/GUI Design skills get to the point where i can give something back to the free vst community like you guys have :band2:

Oh man, I just noticed the true "Key-tar" on the logo. Brilliant!

I forget: where are the pedals at? That got pulled for final designing, correct?

:?: :?: no this is the synth page. which is accessed by clickng the synth logo - the pedals are on the other page

The pedals would be hidden while the synth setup page is shown. To show the pedals again you'd click again on the synth setup page.

edit:

Thanks everyone, it's very cool to hear you all like the UI and it gives me incentive to continue doing this kind of stuff in a positive light. Hopefully we can establish a sub-culture around FreeAMP and start building presets and a shared knowledge about the plug it's definitely worthy of this attention IMO.

I was looking at the UI of amplitube2 and I really was disgusted by how cheezy it looks compared to AT1. I mean honestly it's like they forgot everything they did right in AT1 UI. For instance the pedals are horrible and thin looking, they don't look like real pedals, yet the audio cables and the hardware emulation that the UI attempts to make sort of makes up for it as that part is decent but even the cables and such look out of proportion. I really think the UI for AT2 is bad. GuitarRig UI rules, no question, but it's a little complicated to use it and not everything is immediately in front of you, you have to scroll and use tabs and shit. FreeAMP UI is about the easiest, and cleanest of the amp simulators I think and for this reason I hope that it gets more attention. The plugin on it's own sounds phenomenally realistic (much more than the others IMO) so the sound isn't a concern for me. Moreover the Waves GTR looks very beautiful and certainly the UI is decent, but the separation of the system into several different plugins makes it a pain in the ass to use IMO. The graphics are superb but it suffers in the area of usability without a doubt.

I figured I'd share my thoughts and I think we have achieved our goal in the UI department with the help of all your suggestions -- it's dead simple to use now, is going to sound great, and the CPU usage is decreased dramatically in this version, with even further CPU decrease based on the way we designed the UI (SE controls all take CPU on their own I was told) so it should be a really good tool for all of us to use for FREE, because Joe is a generous and caring individual!

What are your thoughts/comments? Have we achieved the UI goal? I realize it's not perfectly realistic to hardware (there are no patch cables going into or out of the pedals, or audio jacks on the amp or power cables snaking around on the about screen ;) ) but I think what is there is a very good compromise and I'm very anxious to get the v2.0 skin into Joes hands so he can complete and release v2.0 in the near future, which looks very bright from where I stand.

Thanks for your patience until then!

Oh, I figured that: I wasn't sure whether you'd completed the pedal graphics also. :D

Ahh yeah, the pedals are done. Check back a few pages and you can see.

Here I'll put all the links in one spot for final versions;

http://www.asseca.com/designermonkey/kv ... h_demo.png
http://www.asseca.com/designermonkey/kv ... _about.png

That's all 3 screens. The plug will link to assecas CHM file internally when clicking on the FreeAMP logo so I don't even need to do anymore screens (no CC overlay etc) since this info is part of the manual :) Pretty sweet!

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Sorry, I phased out during that bit, I hadn't seen the completed GUI. Good news! Thanks, Grymjack. Great work as always.
