Filter controllable via Midi (Like Madonna's - Hung Up)

Hi folks,

Just wondering what a good filter to use would be, something along the lines of Cubase's own Stepfilter, but better, and with less 'harshness' if that makes sense, something that I could use with a midi controller command if possible...? As Stepfilter is too sudden the changes it makes.

It would be used on vocals/loops etc, so something like that filter sound used on the Abba riff from Madonna's Hung Up...

As always, ideally free, but have no problems paying for a worthwhile one

almost any filter will let you automate the cuttoff frequency in your host using an envelope. i don't use cubase though so i can't give you exact instructions but it won't be difficult.

you can pay for a filter plug like volcano, frantic or filterscape (i use filterscape a lot) or there's a load of free options as well. karma fx has a good little filter in the pack that will do exactly wht you need and sounds pretty good.

I think SeanyK means a filter that has a cutoff which can be "played" as if playing notes. I know there's a plugin called Philterkeyz which does just that, but the filter (at least in to my ears) is very weak and I would appreciate if someone could guide me to something like it, but better.

Ohm Force's Quad Frohmage will let you modulate via midi notes. It's not cheap though.
