Yup. Odd thing, I was looking for voice changers, and accidently dicovered that there's quite a lot of them turn up on ebay, and I sorta though "that's exactly what I want to decorate my studio with". So I sorta decided to start collecting them. Waiting on the second one.

Thats actually where I started.

This is where I wound up, looking at stuff like this:

i enjoyed reading your blow by blow description ...
this is a case , for me , where the process contains as much interest as the product ,
which is considerable ...

i must ask , is the low bitrate .mp3 a further step , in the process ,
or the result of entirely other criteria ?...

Sometimes I get carried away with the techie stuff, so Im not sure if it puts people off.

Although it looks like its just a low bitrate, its actually the MP3Pro compressor in Audition (at a variable bit rate). Far better compression, with fewer artefacts/losses, from what I understand. It should be at least the same quality as a 192Kbit old-style MP3.

Oh well, on checking it seems entirely unclear as to whether 'modern' MP3 players handle MP3Pro files without some loss of quality. Ive added an 'old' MP3 version in the original post as an alternative for those who think their player might not handle MP3Pro very well.

I don't know why I always wind up thinking of great games when listening to scapes like this. I mean, if this had been playing in the background of system shock 2 I would've needed a change of diapers every turn of a corner, instead of just level load.

Damn that was a scary game, and so is this music. I'm fully anticipating a cyber-midwife attack now, and I'm stocking ammo - finger safely on the trigger. :-o

Certainly sounds like a good soundtrack for a cheerless stroll across a post-armageddon landscape where ashes fall like snowflakes from the sky. Yeah, this is cool.

yes, this is it for me too.Really like the variation in that deep drone, gives a feeling of slow movement but huge momentum.
