I want to get Voices of the Apocalypse, but it's a GigaStudio format. I use Reason 3.0 at the moment and I don't want to leave it because it's helping me become better by limiting my choices. Making me use what I have. But NN-XT can only load NN-XT refills and SoundFont2 file formats.
1.) Can I convert to SF2?
2.) Can I convert to OTHER formats in the event that I move away from Reason 3.0? But perhaps don't get GigaStudio?
Basically, if I buy a certain format, how locked into that format am I?
Can you convert samples between all formats?

A lot of the big names samples come as raw samples plus the particular sample map.
An easy way to convert some samples in formats like SF2 to audio is to use Audacity.

Depends on what you buy. A third-party conversion program can fill in all the holes, though. Many modern samplers are able to load much more than Reason does. Kontakt oads everything, EXS and HALion have a healthy range of formats they load.

I have smpletank2 and love it, but i just got a bunch of files for it that I cant load. They are all in bin or cue format. All the samples I have thus far have been either stw, sth, stip, nuendo2 program file. Those all seem to load.
I cant seem to get the bin or cue files to load. I also have a couple nrg files I cant access.
Can these be converted?
As a side note I dont know what the meaning of sound font compared to sample is?
Any help is appreciated.

I've had luck converting most formats to Kontakt 2 format except Gigastudio 3 - for example Nhick's GigaAngklung ( http://www.nhick.com ) seems to throw all the conversion tools I've tried (including Kontakt 2's own inbuilt one).
Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.
