Hm, after all, Jens is right, I have to admit.
Even with the most advanced speech recognition program, it'd be quite tough to tell your sequencer "please insert digitalfishphones Endorphin on my drum bus".
So, while the basic commands for navigation, playback and recording might be cover-able, anything more advanced wouldn't be - and yes, it would require the sequencer to have some things integrated.

On the other hand, I wouldn't happen to know whether I'd really want my computer to become that much of a virtual studio assistant. I mean, sure, if it was of the opposite sex, had a nice pair of whatever, would also do the coffee and lunch - then I probably wouldn't mind.

If what I was would already be possible why isn't everyone already using these voice-recognition programmes then?

I'll tell you why: because as it is now it's not worth the hassle.

Well, that depends on how able bodied you are. Someone in my household uses voice recognition on her PC to undertake most operations, because of severe disability. This discussion tempts me to try Reaper on her PC and get her to voice control it. Her VR software seems able to operate any menu command and many keys, so if the function can be obtained either from a menu or from a key, it could be done. You'd need to use markers for locations and so forth, and the audio program would need to have keys for next track down, record enable, etc etc.

Ideally, software writers would bear in mind these factors when creating their programs. I've seen a number of instances of blind people using audio software - yes, it can be done - but the biggest problems tend to occur when the software developers don't take their needs into consideration. It was good to see an immediate response from Justin Frankel when a blind person asked for a small change to Reaper to overcome such a problem.

I'm not lecturing though - it's very humanly easy to overlook these things if you don't have to deal with them everyday.

Meanwhile - jaw dropping moments in audio? The first time I saw what could be done in Audition's Frequency Space Editing or Centre Channel Extraction, or Reaper's ReaRoute writing VSTi audio into Audition (indeed, quite a few other Reaper features have amazed me, but possibly because I've not used all the programs that some of you good people have, so maybe I'm a bit of an audio virgin, ready to be impressed by... well, let's not go there...).

Its like oxygen no one notices until its gone.

Some points in history become saturated, i did not mean to imply that the world stopped with vsti.

Some concepts open up the whole thing and some ideas are great but can only work within the original concept

Anyway Jens makes good points, you would need to create the human brain to really have all the subtlty of commands.

So any more concepts that will totally change the way we view music and ourselves?

there are 6 billion people on this planet, there must be at least a million musicians, that makes a million brains, and mega millions of cells, all i am asking is just one concept

You need to adopt a more Tantric approach. Its the journey that's important; the occasional spurts of pleasure along the way are of course also a joy but if we focus too much on those and allow all our energies and expectations to ride on those relatively brief and often forgetable moments rather than enjoying and savouring the sensuality and richness of the whole ride we end up becoming endlessly unfulfilled, restless and burnt out.

So, do you recommend right-hand Tantric music making, or left-hand Tantric music making?
