Hello there,

I am looking for a decent way to sample vinyl to my laptop and I'm pretty tight on cash these days...apparently the iMic kicks ass for clean sampling but how much?

Is the echo indigo really that much better for sampling at 3 or 4 times the price? (I hear nothing but good things and great reviews about the iMic sampling quality) Anyone done a comparison?

Nor Imic nor indigo can help you. For sampling vinyl you must use a Phono preamp. It has a special correction called RIAA. You can find a phono preamp probably in you Hi-Fi amplifier or you can buy a phono preamp dedicated for turntables. I remember something from Behringer but I can't help you about it. Go to their webpage or ask to somebody here more info.

I assume hes talking about pluging his mixer into an audio input, which would be fine (as long as his mixer isn't too noisey).

I use the Indigo I/O and am very impressed with the sound quality. It isn't THAT expensive, mine was about £120.

thanks for the the replys...i can either be using a numark sm-3, or a stanton sa-8 which have good enough preamps for me...just don't really know how good the imic really is...some ppl online say it's just as good as the echo indigo for sampling quality but who really knows....maybe I'll just get the echo, cheers.
