I've stumbled across VSampler and I'm in need of a good sampler, and this sounds like a great one although it doesn't seem like a lot of people use it?
It looks great as it claims to be able to import pretty much any other format out there...
I'm looking more into playing sample formats, and not creating libraries at the moment, so... this could be my best bet? Affordable, too.
Any VSampler users out there?
Any reason why I should choose something else?

Who says a lot of people doesn't use it?
They don't know what's good then. Maybe they keep quiet because it's their secret weapon

Get the demo, it a sample player which dont get much attention, prolly due to its a bit dated in look. But look at the features. Its one of the most clean playing samplers out there.

Exactly
.
Definitely demo it and see. It sounds wonderful, but it lacks some "modern" features I'd like to see for example... but it's rock solid and as a rhythm machine and loop player unbelievable good.
Cheers!

Could not live without it and it's a good value.

It is the most confusing VSTi I have ever used. I gave up struggling with it and got Kontakt.

VSampler has a strong tradition for always being one of the most "complete" samplers around. Rightly so.
Unfortunately, it's got a tradition of featuring one of the nastiest GUIs around as well.
But I'm sure, once you get past those GUI/useability issues, it's a really great thing to have. Let alone the fact it's the only sampler actually working with soundfonts, rather than just converting them first. Heck, it's even capable of saving patches as soundfonts.
If I had no samplers already, and if I were sure to stay with Windows for the next, well, years, I'd seriously consider it.

Yeah I've messed around with making a library in VSampler, seems very easy (yay drag n drop), although I would like to be able to set zones with my MIDI controller (you might be able to, not like I'm a pro here..).
Although I'm really just trying to build a good collection of usable instruments... so a starting collection along with the sampler would be wonderful.

I know a lot of people dislike it mainly because of the non-intuitive GUI.
I got it when I bought Sonar 3.1.1 and get the full update as it was really really cheap. Since then, I'm really satisfied and finally learnt how to use it correctly. I do not know if other samplers have weird bugs but sometimes, VSampler simply crash my sequencer (Sonar 5) with cryptic error messages but it happens only once in a while (and I don't make music for living, only for fun so it doen't bother me...).
For the price, it is hard to beat I say. Add to this that it is able to import a lot of sample formats (with a little bit of tweaking if you want them to sound good).

It IS non-intuitive, but it's also stuffed with features I never use. It looks daunting because they try to please as many people as possible. Maybe they over-reach. I simplify things by just zeroing in on the basic features I need (playing samples, for the most part). If you want to load half a dozen sample sets and route them to six outputs, it's a gem. If you want to do major tweaking, it takes some work (probably a bit more work than, say, Kontakt). Anyhow, download the demo. That's what sold me.

Hi, While on the subject of software samplers, I find them horrible to use. I use the Vsampler and Kontakt. First of all there is the latency, its just unacceptable even at 60ms, you cannot do anything realtime. There does not seem to be anyway to achieve zero latency. Secondly when I play a sample by pressing a key on my midi keyboard, I never get a proper pitch like as do ray me fah.... all I notice is that you press a low key, the sample plays slow and you press a high key and the sample goes fast. That is of no use to me. Maybe I have the wrong concept of the whole show.
