Hi, just wanted to let anyone who cared know that I picked up Kore today, and have had a pretty good experience with it...

I am a home/hobby user, and I run a P4 2.4ghz, on XP, with Dual SATA RAID drives, dual M-audio 44's, dual Midisport 2x2's, and Sonar 3.1.1. After a little fiddling (and what new piece of Midi/hardware/software/controller/box-type thingy doesn't?) it picked up my VSTs and ran nicely with a LOW (1-2%) CPU usage with no VSTs loaded.

The hardware unit is solid, picked up my V-station subpages very nicely, is easier to edit than my BCR2000, and seems to work nicely.

I understand there are many frustrated people out there, and everyone's experience will vary... But I just wanted to post something not negative about this thing, as it worked easier for me than many of my VSTs did alone...

That's refreshing..

Mine is doing OK, but the CPU is till 12% without it even being used. I use a AMD FX55, XP SP2 home, Delta 44. I use the XP task manager to see how much CPU it uses. I find that Ableton Live trims off about 9% of what it reports.

I'm confident they will fix the drivers. I wonder if anyone is using it for a sound card,? I have not even plugged that part in yet.

I found that under windows task manager it showed a 4-7% CPU load, so sonar and kore are trimming what they show too... but it's still very manageable, and A LOT of fun to use...

I've not used the sound card, but I'm happy with my 44s and don't want to mess that up.

Yeah, I'm happy with my 44 too. Very solid card, I also seem to be having less trouble than most with Kore. Even UVI engine products work well for me.. Maybe it's the Delta 44's making it all better?

My cheif complaint at first was that Kore didn't see all of my Komplete 3 plugs, therefore it rendered some of the killer Kore presets useless.
I copied the Kore version of the DLLs and pasted them in my VST folder and it all started working quite well.

I didn't get Komplete 3 :-( So the Kore presets don't do much for me yet anyway... I already own Kontact, Absynth, and several of the Intact ROMplers, so I'm not sure how good of deal it is for me...

I also had to copy some of my DLLs into the VST folder to get it to pick everything up...

12% seems acceptable to me. People seem obsessed with using as little cpu as possible, I mean whats the point in having as much processing power as you can afford if you refuse to use as much of it as poss :?

Nah... 12% for a controller, just because you connected it?
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

All kidding aside, do think it will sound as good as my Delta 44?

My Terratec. I have an old version of Sonar (2.2- the first version that supported ASIO as well as WDM drivers), and I've found the WDM drivers to work better for me. I find the Terratec's WDM drivers work better on my system than KORE's do.

Everything else (all my standalones, Reason, Live, EXT, etc.) uses the KORE ASIO drivers...

I have been conditioned to believe that the WDM drivers are shite compared to ASIO, could it be worth a switch to WDM on the Delta 44s, just to see? I'm not really willing to switch to the Kore audio card because there are not enough inputs and, well, when something is working pretty well, why screw around with it?

WDM was great in windows 98, but ASIO is what's up in XP

I feel really bad for NI, Kore seems like a bomb
