TC mentioned that to me last week, but I was being discreet. :) Way cool! Ten bucks duly sequestered.

PS. Rhino can be consider a rompler too... sort of...
Just went to Daniel's site and listened to some of the sound demos, OH MAN, if I didn't know any better I would have thought those were ABSynth demos !!!

Absolutely gorgeous stuff, anything from morphing pads, esoteric FM, to Moogy, juicy leads, I can't wait !!!

I wish I had Rhino and Daniel's soundsets for a recent concert we did, our fans would have been blown away !! WOW !!!

Have to give my regards!
I acquired Rhino in December and it was the best decision I made last year :)
Currently in the mastering stage of a new CD and noticed that Rhino was on 10 of the 12 songs.
Everything from great pads, poly rhythms, evolving waves, to moogs and that great Classic Wurlie patch of Daniel's! Hell I have a Yamaha S-80 that has great electric pianos. But, choose Daniel's! Big Tick's Rhino and the great sound design of Daniel has turned my S-80 into simply a master controller, albeit with great action!
Just wanted to give you guys thanks for your great products. Really can't wait to see whats next! 8)

It's great to know that my love of programming is being used to inspire others musically. Rhino is the only synth that has fed my creativity to make this many sounds and the inspiration continues.

Future banks will experiment with mixing additive and FM and then 100's of additive imports will get mangled in Rhino's engine. In the fall look for M.A.D.

This wouldn't be possible without 'Tick's skilled programming who has put up with countless requests from myself and continues to amaze me. Rhino has a brite future!

Zyn tops my list!

its better than all the other synths.

Hi Daniel,
Sounds like that new sound bank M.A.D. is a spin on the type of synthesis you used on your patch Edge of Tommorow.
I used that patch and a combi in the S-80 and BAM wrote and recorded a tune in an hour, love when that happens!
Rest assured your sound design is inspirational!
Cheers,
Kevin

The FM/Additive banks are about half way finished. The Additive Import banks are still unnamed with only a handful completed.

M.A.D. is something else entirely and will be sample based. Stay tuned for details...

Could be, but the interface is one only an engineer can love ! Like someone eloquently posted here earlier, I want to leave dealing with complexity at work, don't want it when I do music, that GUI takes me MILES away from wanting to write music !!

Just my 2c...

Agreed 100%. Rhino is a fantastic synth I love it.

Perhaps this is not the place to mention it , but :D .... one really big improvement for me would be to have a sync to host tempo option on the internal sequencer (along with note subdivisions - 1/16, 1/8, dotted and triplet values etc. )

This would make the internal sequencer so much more useable especially for rhythmic based music.

Cheers,
Bill

I love Zyn too, but the truth is it just doesn't work smoothly enough in windows. The interface is really hard to get to grips with, the patch saving method is clumsy, I could go on and on about why I just don't ever use it seriously.

A good synth HAS to be a balance of sound, playability and programability, I'm talking about SYNTHESIS here, not preset playing. The fact is, I can open Rhino2, open a blank patch, and within a few minutes have a totally unique sound that really floats my boat, every time I feel the need to do it. That, in my very humble opinion, makes Rhino a GREAT softsynth, cos its the ONLY one I've ever been able to say that about.

Oh, and it has no trouble in creating any type of sound either, it's actually the only synth I really need. I really don't know why I bother demoing new stuff that comes out, or adding yet another freeware creation that just got released (it's like a damn disease).

With the new update I'm even more convinced that Rhino is probably the best softsynth on the market (bar none!). Zyn could be a contender if the developer wanted to be, cos it admittedly sounds fantastic if you you dip into it, the trouble is it's interface gets in the way of creativity, and that renders it as useful as a chocolate fireguard to me.

Apparently Rhino made a few other folk's lists, too: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=139156

And if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I see a lot of things that Rhino has had for as long as I have been using it, showing up in some of the new Cakewalk synths... (I have both DimPro and Rapture).

Bonus with Rhino is you can start out reasonably and add on extra soundsets as the budget allows - it won't break the bank like either of the above do out of the gate.

daniel's banks keep exploring what rhino is capable of doing. It definitely keeps this synth in every project I do. Not everyone has the time or skill to push these envelopes like this.

I've loved the sound from the very beginning and it's only been extended. How exactly how Big Tick and daniel do all this for so little tells me how much they must love what they're doing 'cause I don't think they're getting rich. But a lot of synth makers should be looking at what they're doing as far as extending the useful life of software by providing these sort of 'themed' bank refills.

:D Absolutely. Just like everybody should consider Rhino, every synthmaker needs a 'Daniel' -- a 'product crusader' if there ever was one, and a nice guy too -- to keep their synths (a) current and (b) 'in the news.' :hihi:

Well said, my sentiments exactly ! Just as Ron Papen did a lot to help sell the Emu line of Rompler synths, I think Tick and Daniel are doing the same for Rhino and VFM synths in general. I have the Oberhiem 1 series and just purchased the Moog patches and I am simply jumping out of my chair with the quality, animation, smooth, milky sound of every patch, this coming from a vintage freak who programmed his own Yamaha CS-80s, MiniMoogs and Korg MS20s !!!

I know first hand the work and knowledge it takes to build patches like the ones on Rhino, I also want to remind everyone that Tim Conrady also has some AMAZING free presets on the Big Tick site, the algorythmic patches are absolutely incredible, and a testament to the power and musicality of this synth !!!
