Hey Andrea...just came across this thread....watched a couple of your videos - neat idea and sounds great!
Anyway...talking about other formats...don't forget SFZ format! It's a Rene (RGC Audio)/Cakewalk format that is very flexible for sound designers and end-users and just uses WAV files with a SFZ file (text file) that determines the key-mappings; so I'm sure this format would be very easy for you to accomodate. Hard to explain....but you can find out more on the format at the links below.
Anyway...nice product and I'm sure some of us Dimension Pro users would be interested as well!

sfz is a very cool format, but there isn't a player in existence (AFAIK) that disk-streams sfz. This means that for monster samples-sets like Direct Guitar sfz isn't probably the best choise.holymoly wrote:Hey Andrea...just came across this thread....watched a couple of your videos - neat idea and sounds great!

Andrea, Soundfont will probably make this attractive to a whole lot of people not owning a "proper" sampler.
Since Direct Guitar is very decently priced, I believe it will be an excellent choice for those with limited budgets. The ability to play it in something like sfz+ will also make it a great option for people who avoid challenge/ response or dongle protected products.
Since my budget is limited and loathing of all things C/R'd and dongled is limitless, I'll probably be all over this.
Gig2 format will be fine for me too, though probably not as popular as sf2.

To be honest...I don't know for sure on the disk streaming bit, but I'm sure that Rene (ala Z3ta+, Pentagon, Triangle, etc) being behind Dimension Pro (and Rapture) - Disk Streaming will eventually come. As far as I've read about it as well...it's not a big issue with most folks, including me (so far).spacefox wrote:sfz is a very cool format, but there isn't a player in existence (AFAIK) that disk-streams sfz. The biggest SFZ multisample in the 3GB worth of samples you get with DPro is around a 300MB Piano. Now mind you...I'm running fairly high-end system here as well, but like most things software based...you better have your gear up-to-snuff for this kind of setup or you'll surely run into issues.

Thank you to everybody.
Soundfont?
I'm still thinking about it. I have same opinion about the problem for sfz to stream so many samples.
Price?
Yes this is very friendly price. I'm musician like you and I understand what it means buying an expensive sample library.
89 dollars (for european even less) I think is affordable price for everybody.
I worked hard for creating that library. I selected thousand samples, I edited all the samples taking care to the attack, release, decay, volume, noise.
Before recording the guitar I planned how to record the strings, how to pick them, which keys and which strings choose, which kind of picks and how to put the pick for get a good sound. I studied all the technics of the pick and how the strings respond changing positions of the pick, position of the hand etc etc.
If you have other questions please post them here I will answer as soon as possible.

DirectBass?
What is it?
Joking,
after days and days working with DirectGuitar the thought to start again to sample an instrument make me...
DirectBass is a good idea especially now that Ampeg from IK multimedia is released.
We will see.
Now I'm working in other innovative sample libraries.

Whoaa Andrea,
great playing and great library
Why do you choose Kontakt as your main sampler format? I am considering new soft sampler and it seems that Kontakt is so favored amongs sample developers.
Ciao from Croatia

It's just my opinion.
Kontakt 2 is easy to use. It has very interesting functions.
It is player and editor in the same time.
Kontakt 2 is from Native instruments.
So that's why I choosed Kontakt 2

Hi Andrea,
after listening to the demos I couldn't resist and ordered the library. Being a big fan of K2's scripting abilities I think some suitable scripts (strumming, finger hammering etc.) would make your library an absolute winner. I think Chris Hein has followed the route with his new guitar library and "realguitar" from musiclab.com has a similar approach (though they don't use Kontakt but their own engine).
Today's libraries don't improve by sound quality only but by playability. I know that Nils Liberg is an extremely talentedscript programmer as well as a nice person who once helped me creating a script. Maybe he would be interested in working together with you.
You can contact him at the NS Kontakt forum.
