I tried the demo breifly and thought it sounded pretty good ages ago. I'm curious how people thing it's aging and if there's anyone still using it these days?

i got it and still use it, but i never used a lot but it has its uses and is certainly WAY better sounding the DATUBE that gets supplied with Cubase SX

I should say it sounds best to me on vocal and recorded bass guitar.

IMO: The 'devil' tube is a cool but unremarkable distortion effect, while the 'angel' tube is too temperamental. Push it just slightly too far and it becomes horribly brittle.

BUT both tubes are v good on drums.

Unfortunately Tube still uses the most clumsy and intrusive PACE protection: disk 'authorisation'. I.e. hiding files everywhere. Antares claim they will update it to iLok soon, and I hope they do, because even iLok would be better than disk-based PACE, IMO.

Brittle, yes, which is its downfall. I love the midrange warming effect, which is one of the best I've heard. But I didn't buy it because of the brittle highs.

Ew. Glad I never got past the sound quality caveats to the point of wanting to buy it. I'll never put any PACE abominations of any kind on my machine. Synchrosoft is as far as this boy will go.

If they change it to iLok I might put it on my wish list (I'll need an iLok key first though since I don't have one).

I've only ever used it on bass tracks. Didn't sit well with anything else for me.
