I still think it's vapourware. :D Oh Oh here comes Dave and he looks mad better run...........by the way I want Neutron as well! :P

Post

Dave never gets mad... (except with those people who refuse to read either installation instructions or the user manual and then email him :P)

Here's the deal with Neutron. We were busy congratulating ourselves on developing a real nice piece of technology, and launched the pre-publicity. Then, some conversations with a potential licensee for this technology began. They are very, very interested in taking the guts of Neutron and making their own product from it - if this comes off, it will ROCK.

However, there's some copy protection/security/compatiblities issues that we will need to work into the retail version of Neutron if they decide to go ahead. So, whilst things are still being finalised, Neutron is not vapourware but "heldupware", maybe

Dave

Oh buggeration. I guess we'll have to learn some patience-not one of my strong points.I hope these potential licensee's initials aren't N.I. ? Hey that "people who don't read the manual" crack wasn't aimed at me was it? I've never done that, well except when I signed up for the monthly patch downloads like a dozen times but I blame that on solar flares. :D

No, not at all. There are plenty of people out there who steadfastly refuse to open the manual provided with the software when it is obviously so much easier to mail us or post on a forum and wait for a response.....:? :? :?

They know who they are...

Solar flares is a good excuse, but we'll only accept it once

Oh God. That doesn't sound good.

I mean it sounds great for Muon and I'm glad about that. However, somehow I think it may not be quite as good for us.

I'm guessing whatever product is created will not follow the direction Muon has already proposed, will not be 100% solid Muon code, will not have Muon support and may be priced totally differently from the originally planned price.

I'm very rarely excited by a drum sampler. SR202 was the first and Neutron was the second. I'm not so sure now.

I will hang around and see what happens.

Actually no, none of the above. The retail version that we sell will simply have an additional layer of security in it that will "structure" the compatibility with files destined for the licensee's products. The rest of the product will still be the same and at the same price. The licensee is not a software developer either, so it will be 100% Muon code whichever way.

Well I guess I'll have to wait and see and try not to be pessimistic about it. Congratulations for the interest Dave. Hope it works out for you guys.

i wont be pessimistic as long as its cheaper than intakt.

Just a speculation: i read on the dkfh forum the forthcoming Drumkit From Hell (II) should be released as a VSTi :
" DFH II is on the planning stage for now, we will begin the recording in a couple of weeks, and we are discussing a dedicated software that will have all the features that all the other software samplers don't have. We cant talk about what we're doing right now, but it will be something else if we get what we want."
Are these two connected in anyway ??

I hope i'm not pissing anyone off with my crazy speculation ..

Cheers,

Lorcan

I'm guessing it will be a sample CD provider.
All zero-g sample CDs now ship with Intakt (see ad in this months FM) so my semi-educated guess is that Neutron will be the front end for a series of sample CDs.

:?

scuzz.
