Hey, everybody:

I'm really sorry for the huge cluster f**k here. We switched from VS.Net to Visual Studio Express for this plugin, and look what it got us. So, here's the final tally to getting Discord 2 running:

If you install Discord 2 and it doesn't work, you need to get the latest Microsoft C++ runtime library here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

If you DO NOT have WinXP SP2 or greater, you also need to install the latest Windows Installer package first, which you can get here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

So, install the Windows Installer package (if you're running SP1 or earlier), reboot, then install the runtime library. Then Discord2 will work fine.

Lord have mercy, you guys have NO IDEA how many support emails I woke up to this morning. Roughly a third of the Windows purchasers have this problem. I'm so happy right now. We're working on a new installer that bakes these runtime libs in, but until then, there's the solution.

Discord now also works in Samplitude 8 !!!!!!

I must say, I love the sound of Discord 2. For me also the best GUI from Audiodamage !!
Fun to wok with it.

Fun to wok with? That's just crazy talk. We don't support wokking with our products, and if you wok with them and have troubles, we won't help.

Regarding the intelligent harmonizer question, I think good (second hand) hardware boxes are still the way to go. And often they are not much expensive than one or two plugs (think of digitech for example). Take care...

oh lord this plug in rocks, apart from audio dropping out when i tweak it in sync mode with logic running a loop.

Indeed. Pretty great plug.

Hey, Beatz...

Which control are you tweaking to cause this behaviour? I can't replicate it.

Dang it, the demos on your site sounded pretty cool, gave me this idea...what if I...

I hope downloading the new installer to replace the one I just bought won't be a problem...I couldn't help myself. I even downloaded the C++ thing first, just in case...

Hi Chris,

The issue i'm having ONLY occurs when logic is in Cycle Mode. Otherwise the plug in functions very well.

Here is the method to systematically hang logic's audio engine with Discord 2:

LOGIC:

Start a fresh project in logic Pro. Instantiate a drum machine such as Ultrabeat, with a pre programmed pattern. Insert Discord2 with default setting on this virtual instrument's track. Play a 4 bar cycle.

DISCORD: Activate LFO sync on both left and right channels. Change the 'Rate' of both LFO's. This is sometimes already enough for the audio to drop. If not, then routing the LFO's to 'shift' (maximum) should do.

Special Remarks: This only seems to occur whilst logic is playing back the 4 bar cycle. I tried the same procedure whilst logic was 'stopped' and had no problems UNTIL playing back the loop. At the end of the 4 bar cycle, the Logic SPL stops and the audio engine drops out. It is then neccessary to reset the audio driver. Note: this happens with plug in delay compensation on or off. Also 'cycle pre processing' option has no effect.

Here is a screenshot of the kind of setting which systematically kills the audio engine:

The above symptoms occur regardless of whether i use my powerbooks internal audio or with my RME fireface 800.

I'll test the same procedure on my girlfriend's mac book pro, to see if the same issue occurs on intel machines.

Thanks!!

UPDATE: Same problem on the mac book pro!!

BTW: I forgot to mention that i can have hours of fun with discord if logic is NOT in cycle mode. Some kind of problem with clocks or something? Hope my post can help pinpoint the issue!

HI

This has turned into a bit of a nightnare!

I can't get the plug to run on my PC - I can't download the runtime library as it wants to install onto my Internet PC, rather than allow me to save the file!

Hopefully an update to discord will come soon (with the other bits built in) - I mean having to (try) to get 2 other programs just to get the 3rd one running is a bit extreme IMO.

Flipper.

Post

So...I should mention that Discordv2 installed just fine on my winxp/sp2, no need for the extra C++ bit at all. Just install, go to with your host and enjoy...

Post

Hey Flipper, I find it odd that it's not letting you save the runtime library. You can't just Right Click and Save As onto a disc? I just checked and I was able to do this, so if you want it let me know (that is, unless it's one of those installers that forces you to download the remaining components after the fact, at which point, nevermind).
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

Runs great here. This thing is like a Sci-Fi/Horror audio maker's dream tool..
