help with creating a multi-thing in ds404

Hi there,

I've been trying to create a sampler patch that has 4 different vocal samples, and I would like each sample to route to a different out. How do I do this? I didn't have any luck at all last night. I managed to put two different samples on two different timbres (I think) but they both played out of output 1. Any tips?

Here's a step by step (assumes DS404 v1.11)

1. Load all four samples in the sample list. Select sample #1.
2. Go into keymap edit for keymap 1 patch 1 timbre 1.
3. Create a zone on a suitable range of notes and velocities.
4. Change to timbre 2 (which will have patch 2 keymap 2 assigned to it).
5. Go to the sample list and select the second sample.
6. Edit keymap 2, create a suitable zone again.
7. Change to timbre 3 (which will have patch 3 keymap 3 assigned to it).
8. Go to the sample list, and select the third sample.
9. Edit keymap 3, create a suitable zone again.
10. Change to timbre 4 (which will have patch 4 keymap 4 assigned to it).
11. Go to the sample list, select the final sample.
12. Edit keymap 4, create a suitable zone again.
13. Go into the mixer, set the MIDI channel for the first four mixer strips to 1.
14. Using the output selector controls next to each channel strip, set the first mixer strip to the second from the top output.
15. Set the second mixer strip to the third from top output.
16. Set the third mixer strip to the fourth from top output.
17. Set the fourth mixer strip to the last output.

Play a note in that falls into the zone created in keymap 1 on MIDI channel 1 and you'll hear the first sample - it will come out of the first of DS404's four mono outputs. Play a note in the zone for the second keymap, and it'll come out of the second of DS404's outputs....and so on.

If the pitch of any of the samples is off, go back to the sample edit screen and adjust either the root note as appropriate, or switch off pitch tracking altogether.

Finally, save this lot as a multi patch by using the TOP save button.

This is where I'm stuck. I don't see/recongnize the output selector controls next to each channel strip. I see the midi channel, the volume slider, the pan knob, and a little yellow dot beside the volume. Section 9 in the manual makes it look like these dots can move, but I can't get them to move with mouse.

Your monitor is probably a little dark, or maybe at too high a resolution. The yellow dot is the lit one out of five dots arranged in a vertical line. Maybe if you increase your brightness or fiddle with the settings?
