Hi, as I'm a betatester as well I can confirm that there'll be no dongle whatsoever. The plug will definitely be released * very * soon - I've been playing a release candidate and one of the developers actually told me so this morning
Also the plug has been kept so quiet to prevent building up a hype way before it's launched.

Peter is a gifted piano player and his track demonstrates the dynamic of the plugin very well. However what the track cannot 'show' you is how well it actually plays and responds - I can't recall having so much fun playing a piano (besides a real one) - it's seriously expressive. But don't take my word for it - I'm pretty sure there'll be a demo soon.

Hi Subz,

Good question. Though the product was not in the picture back then, I guess you could consider the 4Front piano module as a very premature version of the current engine.
Without going into tech details (sorry) there's really no comparison between the two - the current piano engine has changed quite a bit since it's three years of development.

Sampletank's free HQ Piano is actually a good one, absolutely worth the downloads.
Alex, I'd never noticed this before. Very cool! Thanks for pointing it out... :hihi:

As for the mystery piano in this thread...well, the demo is nice enough. But I can wait... I'll judge it when it appears, and I have plenty of pianos to mess with in the meantime.

well i have been playing with the piano playing 10 note chords & trying my hardest to hit abouve 20% on my old amd xp2000 (best i got was 17%) & the sound was quite good!!

so i'm verry much looking forward to seeing what the demo has to offer! then enjoy the new wave of vst's that follow its path :D

The demo sounds great, but will the new module have a tack piano preset? There doesn't seem to be a single VSTi out there that has one, which is something of an oversight in my view.

I look forward to more info on this. I've had the 4Front piano for years and am quite fond of it, though obviously its idiosyncratic in the way it sounds.

This demo sounds great, but it's also the player, a very gifted person. Made me curious for the plug.

Do you literally mean a prepared piano with tacks in the hammers?
Are you trying to get a gig where you wear a red&white striped shirt and a straw hat, or what?

I do wish someone would create a VSTi with some more interesting pianos. An old upright (as in Faces- Ooh La La) for instance, instead of grands and baby grands.

NI AcoustiK Piano has a nice sounding Steingraeber upright (not "old" though)

Wusikstation has a number of uprights in the full pack.

Has anyone tried PMI's hybrid Pianos yet?

Right. A Grand is above all a solo instrument for the exceptionally gifted players. It works well in specific setups such as a jazz combo, but in most music / mixes it would be a totally misplaced sound.

Not excellent at all, but quite nice and free, is Safwan Matni's upright Le Piano.

Safwan Matni also made the now quite popular accordion and other instruments, all for free:

I understand NDAs; I don't quite understand the point of posting and then not being able to discuss the instrument with us, except for the concept of viral marketing.

I agree. The Art Vista VGP demo MP3 sounded good, but the plug-in sounds like the piano has a cardboard case. It's really awful to my ears.

I'll wait for a workable demo. Finally getting a good piano plug-in would be great though. I hope it's everything they are saying.

Hey reflekshun, that's a really nice demo. Great mood and all (the same applies to the other tunes on your site, which I downloaded as well).
Can't exactly comment on the piano quality (being less experienced with such things, I mean, I'm a halfdeaf guitar player...) and I'm probably not looking for a piano either (the ones coming with Kontakt 2 suit my needs), but as said, your demo is really pleasant.

Vintaudio has some uprights: A Clinton 1908 and a Steinway Boston...

EDITED: but it is not a vsti...
