i just bought a SWISSONIC MIDI-USB 1X1 from thomann.de and i cant get the sucker to work-
It makes the new hardware found prompt come up and the leds on it light but it doesnt show up in Fruity Loops the way my M- audio uno does- i tried it in windows 2000 and xp .
I have not been able to find any drivers online for it - does anyone know where i can?

SWISSONIC MIDI-USB 1X1 seems to have problems with some systems. On the package you can find the note: " Midi-USB 1X1 may have problems interfacing properly with computers that have older motherboards that use OHCI (open host controller interface). I've tested the midi-interface on three different computers (not too old ones, PIV with 2800 /3000 MHZ, no idea if the have OHCI or not).
Computer No1 crashes when I plug in the Interface (shutdowns automatically), Computer No2 the driver is installed, but I can't select it in any sequencer or the windows audio setup menu; on computer No3 the driver is installed correctly and the interface is detected properly. Unfortuantly it's the computer on my work, I normally can't use it for making music and couldn't test it yet if it really works when I plugin a midi keyboard....
So the SWISSONIC MIDI-USB 1X1 can work on some systems ("compatible with most PC or Mac computers" - lol -). Bad but cheap product with bad support, no drivers or documentation.... I will probably send back this (sorry) bullshit midi interface to thomann (money back guarantee) and will buy a quality product from midiman or edirol.

Hi,
I also just bought the SWISSONIC MIDI-USB 1x1 from thomann.de and at first it also didn't work in my Fruity Loops.
Now I could solve the problem with the SWISSONIC device and can proper use my Yamaha PSR-620 in Fruity Loops.
First I connected the Swissonic device with my notebook and waited until all drivers were installed AUTOMATICALLY by Windows XP. You don't need drivers, when you have Windows XP.
Then I reboot the notebook (preventively, but I thinks it's not really necessary when using Windows XP).
Then I started Fruity Loops and go to Options -> MIDI Settings.
I didn't change anything in the Output section, but in the Input section there is one entry, when the Swissonic device ist connected to your computer. It's just called USB-Audiodevice (so nothing with Swissonic or MIDI). I selected it and activated it with a click on "Enable". After that you have "USB-Audiodevice (generic controller) Active" in the Input section.
If everything went right, the Swissonic device starts to blink (MIDI-In LED). Now it should work in your Fruity Loops!
PS: Once I had the problem, that the device MIDI-In LED stopped to blink. Also it wasn't possible to reenable it in Fruity Loops. I just simply disconnected it from the computer and connect it again. After that you can reenable it in Fruity Loops or it starts automatically to blink (when a switched on keyboard or something is connected to the Swissonic device).
PPS: I connected the wires as follows:
Yamaha MIDI Out <---> Swissonic MIDI In
Yanaha MIDI In <---> Swissonic MIDI Out
In my case, it makes no difference how the switch of the Swissonic device is set. I can't recognize a change, when I switch it from "USB" to "MIDI THRU". I use it set on "USB".
I hope this solution can help you to solve the problems with your Swissonic MIDI Interface!

I also made the mistake of buying a SWISSONIC MIDI-USB 1x1 from Thomann and had similar problems getting it running on my 1 year old Notebook:
Dell Inspirion 1300 (USB 2.0, Win XP SP2)
The interface was recognized by the Windows Device Manager as a "USB Audiodevice", BUT didn't show up as a midi device in the "Audio" tab on the "Sounds & Audio Device" panel.
I then tried it on two other PC's:
Athon XP2400/ASROCK K7VT4A+ (USB 2.0, Win XP SP1) and old AMD K6-500/DFI K6BV3+ (USB 1.1, Win XP SP2).
The interface was recognized in both the Windows Device Manager AND "Audio" tab on the "Sounds & Audio Device" panel as "USB Audiodevice". I could then select MIDI "USB Audiodevice".
After experimenting for about a week I then connected the SWISSONIC MIDI-USB 1x1 via a 4x USB HUB to the Notebook and...
it works !!!
The problem doesn't seem to be so much to do with Win XP, but a hardware/chipset compatability issue to do with the SWISSONIC design. Using a USB HUB could be a workaroud on other systems too - perhaps some of you would like to try it out.
Don't connect anything else to the same hub as the SWISSONIC one though - I had an M-AUDIO TRANSIT USB on the same hub and was having lots of audio clicks and pops. Connected it directly to a USB port and its OK.

I also had the same problems with SWISSONIC MIDI-USB 1x1:
It runs on desktop PC (hp pavilion k821.at, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, Win XP SP2) but on my laptop (DELL 520, Win XP SP2) the same failure as described above occurred:
The interface was recognized by the Windows Device Manager as a "USB Audiodevice", BUT didn't show up as a midi device in the "Audio" tab on the "Sounds & Audio Device" panel.
So I made a test with an 4x USB hub ==> SWISSONIC MIDI-USB device can be accessed as MIDI device!!!

Hi. I have found a driver that work with the Swissonic 1x1 MIDI-Interface and Windows 7:
- Windows 7 driver for the Roland UM-1G interface
