I should know this. I really should. I feel like a dope, but I'm busy. I have been working with mostly VSTi's and using midi automation or just plain old live midi control, however:

I started doing alot of real audio guitar sound scaping that really would be helped by for example:

A slow random LFO controlling the cuttoff and or bandwidth of just a simple 4 band EQ.

Nothing Fancy, just 4 simple bands that I could assign an EQ to in a cubase SX insertable EQ effect.

I use Reaktor or my Pulsar cards to achieve this in a way that eats too much CPU and requires additional routing in the Scope Platform and I'm sick of it.

So:

1. Price isn't a concern
2. I only really need four bands of EQ.
3. I'd like to be able to assign an LFO to the bandwidth and or the "cutoff"/Frequency of the EQ as well, INSTEAD of doing it in real time or using automation.

If anyone has any suggestion for a CPU effecient FX EQ plugin that can do that, I'd be thankfull.

It's something I should know, and someting I already do with reaktor, but something I'd like to be able to do with a less CPU intensive FX plugin.

Hi talynidm, if you have energyXT, I would suggest getting something like one of David Ross's eq plugins as they're free, excellent, and pretty cpu friendly and use Nicfit's nF_CC_mod_ldev you can set up nicfits' plug to mod via LFO any of the parameters on the eq of your choice, when you're happy with what you've got, save it as a eXT preset. then you can use eXT in your FX chain. Just load up the preset you created in eXT and you're good to go
I don't use eXT as a host (...there eXTras out there sneering right now...) but it's amazing to have for just such uses as you've described...best 50bucks you'll spend this year. :hihi:

The KarmaFX synth can do that. You can load it as an effect and patch it up with EQs and LFOs 'til you're blue in the face. :D

And it is free as well.

that's too cool, jupiter8!
...call me a technerd, but it makes me all tingly to find a new way to get from A to B :D
didn't know that karmaFX synth loaded as an effect!...we'll be messing with this later!

I'd love to be able to do this, but I've never been able to have KarmaFX work properly.

I installed it along time ago, and it would not accept the latency on my pulsar card no matter what I did.

I just installed the newest download and now when I try to load it in either fruity or Cubase the synth GUI comes up but then everything locks up and the host crashes.

I can get the INDIVIDUAL FX to load as VST FX, but I've never been able to get the modular synth to actually work.

????

Which kinda sucks because it looks really cool by all accounts and I'm never going to argue with free.

I just can't get it to not crash hosts?

Has anyone else had this problem?
