Free 'bass enhancer' plugin?

Are there any free plugins around that do something along the lines of Waves RBass or the hardware Aphex Aural Exciter (with Big Bottom) that create bass sub-harmonics to enhance the sub-bass properties of a sound?

I'm not after anything fancy, just something to add a little low end 'oomph' to some sound effects that don't have much going on in the sub bass frequencies.
