You're supposed to create your own. :!:

I want both, but don't give me stereo samples if the sample is a mono recording.

hey, az buddy :p

what kind of guarantee do you have that this collection is still going to be around and coherent in two, four years??

imo the web is truly lacking in free, no sign-in high concentration collections.. so if this is what you can accomplish, then i'm in, with notes for bandwidth et c.

i have some ~5-10m collections i really would like to upload.. need to sort them and that's problematic for me atm due to housing -

will you accept varied analog drum hits? i have hundreds of shots from a modded boss dr110 - claps, snares, hats and cymbals similar to the 808. imo very useful library.

on my samples page http://www.xoxos.net/samples.html i have some collections you are welcome to appropriate. i have slow dialup here so it would be quite ineffective for me to rename and forward them.

there is a ~20meg collection of percussion shots produced by pouring animal feed, producing a diverse assortment of midrange noise.. a long pour sounds ~ like a brushed snare or clap with amazing timestretch. i've found them very useful for layering, highly recommended.

Allright, Ill try to synthesize some. Ill post back in a few weeks when I get a good collection going. I dont own a microphone yet. I really really need one though.

Brilliant idea, i'll see what I can record over the next few days. Dont have any normal drums, i'll just go round the house hitting things with a drum stick :hihi:

Also, i/you could mirror the file on archive.org , tis free and since its an 'archive' fingers crossed it'll be around for a while. ;)

I would accept them if you programmed the synth yourself. Everyone already has the presets 1 million times over.

on another note: AUDACITY IS REALLY PISSING ME OFF!!!! DAMN IT! I have to find my original samples because for SOME REASON that program keeps exporting silence. Now I have to re-process the samples and re-upload them.

edit: all fixed now, and uploaded.

but of course, samples can be even 20 seconds long if you want.
No, I've been fighting my freaking system trying to get it to stop turning off when I render a track.
It's taken up the better part of 2 days now.

Although, come to think of it, I don't have a way of making a sound without my seq which is FL.
cantabile is great for this stuff. has audio recording autonaming and can host a synth. no effects chain, but would work temporarily. it's free too. check www.toptensoftware.com

Oh cool! Instead of using an actual synth I could use chainer to chain stuff.

they're 'original sounds' because the dr110 is wired to produce 1 timbre of snare.. i've potentiometered the decay, noise and pitch resistors and have ~200 snare drum variations..

imo the thing is a lot of people don't have the basics.. i looked for '808 snare' earlier this year and you have to ho thru hell + hiwater to get 2 in mp3 format page after page of blandishments.

if you wan't 'em yell :) i have packs of more exotic stuff, but i'll wait until i've moved in somewhere to sort them.

Great idea!
And btw, I think Audacity does a good job on noise removal.

Is the idea to produce simply percussive sounds? or is it only drums? Analog only? or is purely electronic fine? Your post is a bit ambigious (at least to me  ). I ask because I don't have a ton of drums to sample but I can program and manipulate some crazy hits.

In the mean time I'll dig up/program some stuff. (if you don't want them I can always use them myself  )

p.s. great idea.

exactly my point. If you were to send me 200 snares of the same synth, and by the same creator (you) that would "lopside" (not a word at dictionary.com) the project. I'm *sure* those 200 snares are useful and I'm sure I could eventually gather that many snares.

How would I integrate these samples into the project? Would I list:

xoxos_snare_01

200 times? I just don't think I want to "lopside" (not a woird) the project with that. I am thinking of one solution and that is having your samples right next to and available to this project's samples, but not in the same file. You know? Or maybe you can convince me of a better solution?

or maybe I should integrate them into the project and expect this to unlopside (not a word) itself soon enough? Yeah. Ok. Screw the above post, I'll accept anything. I just need to find space to host it. I'll probably separate each folder into its own download. im checking out archive.org now

Mostly just percussive sounds, but you can go strange with the 1-shot effects and "misc", just check out my examples.

hmm, I changed the organization and name of 4 files, redownload the master list if you want to stay in sync. let these samples be your database, so whenever you use a sample, be sure to keep it with the project because I may have to change sample names and placement a lot of the time after uploading. and that would screw your projects up really bad I assume.

Arrite, here's the hitlist on archive.org: http://www.archive.org/details/HitList

NOW LETS FILL'ER UP!!!! GIMMIE YER SAMPLES!

I'm going to eventually split the download into its categories.
