Nobody sounds like SP, but these side projects/related bands will probably be of interest:

cEvin kEy (All of his solo stuff)
The Tear Garden
The Legendary Pink Dots
Download ('Stanley Pain' era is the best)
Doubting Thomas
Dead Voices on Air
Cyberaktif
Hilt (As mentioned earlier, doesnt sound like SP, but it is a Key/Goetell project, and is also great music)
Puppy Gristle (This was a limited edition, but I think they did a second pressing)
Phil Western (The album Dark Features is his best)
Aduck (If you can find any, this was Dwayne's solo stuff, mostly only exists on compilation albums)

hmm, "brap" sounds familiar. Not sure

Anyway, thanks for the info.

I agree, I liked Puppy's early stuff better. Later they lost whatever dark edge they had IMO. Download had a few good recordings though.

I almost forgot....early Mentallo and the Fixer has a bit of Puppy going for them. "Where Angels Fear to Tread" is a
good place to start.

So we have pretty much established that mo-one sounds like Skinny Puppy unless they are vapid rip-offs like NecroFacility but there is plenty of stuff out there that will appeal to you if you really like the Pups.
NUMB - Death on the Installment Plan sounds more like SP than they ever did. It is an absolute masterpiece.
X Marks the Pedwalk - Human Desolation and The Killing Had Begun
yelworC - These guys provide the link between SP and EBM.
amGod - Former yelWorc guy and its even better. Get the box-set, you won't be dissappointed.
Mentallo & the Fixer - Revelations 23 is easily their best.
Killing Joke - What's This For? is very Puppyish in its outlook, if considerably more dated.
Anything you can find that is produced by Dave "Rave" Ogilvie will almost certainly have that traademark Skinny Puppy sound. Diatribe's first 4-track MCD is a classic example, as is 16 Volt's Motorskills.

Oh, and for the record, I think we have a few songs that have a certain Puppy-ish bent to them, mostly our slow songs, and I'm sure we would both rather be associated with them than the bands mentioned in the post on the first page.

True, vastly underrated record, and killer production to boot. Really needs a big sound system to come alive totally.

Numb would have been my suggestion, too...I like the first album most, but I enjoyed each of them mentioned (it's pretty hard to find an angrier song than "Bliss"...my favorite of their harder stuff).

Tear Garden, too...especially the first couple of records (available as "Tired Eyes Slowly Burning"), though "To Be an Angel Blind" couldn't be further away from Puppy. Edward's more introspective lyrics and delivery might be the total antithesis of Ogre's voice...(with the exception of LPD's "Pleasure Palace").

Pink Dots are far spacier and more psyche than Skinny Puppy...though "Nemesis Online" and "Asylum" might be a good segue between the two bands.

I have always loved Skinny Puppy, though I lost interest after Too Dark Park. I saw them in '87 (holy shit...nearly 20 years ago!)...fantastic, creative performance. I think I preferred both the live gigs and the albums when they were cobbled together with spare change (and body parts).

Still, to this day, I have a strong admiration for Cevin Key's work. I always find it worth a listen.

Mmm, I'm going to have to dig into the CD crates and find 16 Volt again. I really don't think of SP when I listen to them, but they do kick ass.

Some more recent Frontline Assembly has a Skinny Puppy feel...and perhaps you'd also like Das Ich...

Also, just to toss some more out there, a few of the bands on the small French label "AudioTrauma" have a good puppy-esque industrial vibe. A bit more shrill though. Especially F.Y.D. and Chrysalide.

...and although probably not readily apparent a lot of my work as Full.System.Failure is heavily Skinny Puppy influenced.

My vote is for Suicide Commando.
He doesn't sound like Puppy at all, but there is some of the horror movie feel in his work.

Well, how'd it go, ExMachina? Find anything you like?
