You sure you want it half speed?
How about something vanilla like 120 BPM?

uhhh, IIRs, I think you kinda exported it at 240bpm. if I cut it down to an 8-bar loop, Recycle reads 240bpm.

could well be it. I mean, you can definitely hear the kit is recorded very well. On further listening, I think it might be more a matter of the mix. But, it sounds good, and I particularly like the snare- very nice. I guess in general my tastes are decidedly (more) lo-fi and trashy when it comes to real acoustic kits - the harsh, sibilant tones of cymbals is what I am afterIIRs wrote:pw: I think possibly the "safeness" you percieve comes from the choice of ribbon mics for overheads (Beyer M160 / M130 pair). They sound very warm, but nervertheless have a crisp well defined top end that can be brought up with EQ if needed, though I didn't use any EQ at all in the clip. Condensors sometimes sound harsh and sibilant on cymbals to my ears..

Me too! Its a 13" Noble & Cooley with a Beyer M69 on top and a '57 underneath, with seperate samples of him hitting the centre and the edge of the head.. I got him to do some stick bouncing stuff too but haven't got around to editing those yet. I kept all 10 mics seperate, so editing it all has been a big job!pw wrote:I particularly like the snare- very nice.

Oh duh, IIRs, you didn't export at 240bpm or then the original wav would sound horribly busy..... hmm. my idea of slower slices doesn't seem to work though. maybe im doing something wrong.

I had to cut up the teaser before being convinced it's actually made up of samples, that that you didn't just post a loop of a live drummer to see whether anyone notices the difference. Pretty impressive
