hmmm...Jason Brian Merrill wrote:it does use both cpu, when using vsti and vst -- i have seen it.kmonkey wrote:Well check again. Gol can confirm to you. It does not use both CPU, but overall with dual core you have smoother graphic. Anyway update is decent and it is worth just because of Edison. Oh my god. Love philter is excellent too. Soooo musical. Tony rulez
anyway here is few responses by gol (from Looptalk)

no apps support dual cores, they don't even know about them.
To resume
-will FL run flawlessly on your dual core system? yes
-will it fully use your 2 cores? no, far from it
-will your system be as stable as a single-core? no. Any app has bugs, and some of them will occur much often on your dual core system than on a single core.

gol wrote :
it's up to you, I'm just saying that your dual core won't make FL 2x faster, but you have other apps

yes, don't buy a dual core. The only benefit for you in FL would be a smoother GUI even at high mixing CPU usages.

gol wrote :

..and I wasn't replying to you, but to kev. In fact, I didn't reply anything to you because I knew it was to start a flame war, while kev asked a clear question: is it worth buying a dual core CPU for FL.
To flame threads about dual core, freezing, PDC and god knows what else, you won't get an answer from me.

if you're loaded and have money to waste, buy a dual core. It'll make FL work better & more smoothly. But it will NOT give you a 2x better CPU usage, that's all.
now a dual core will also, and in any app (except those that aren't buggy, if they exist), make some bugs occur more often. That's why I'd personally not use a dual core system.

Si is this enough proof to you? As you can see he is not interested in any way and its just fine with me. One day he will maybe consider it. Until that moment and from that moment i will still use both. Cubase and fl. I will repeat that i only wish i could use more from my setup within FL. But that is all. FL is fine even superb to me.

dude with many synths you can reduce your max polyphony to reduce cpu usage....hitman8081 wrote:not when i make tracksThe Chase wrote:Are you serious? I've never needed freeze, even when I had a 1.6ghz amd (old and slow). The only time I ever maxed out CPU was with 4 instances of crystal and a shit-load of effects (Of coarse this never happenend with my new 2.2Ghz (not overly fast or anyhting), but I upgraded for gaming reasons rather than for Audio production reasons.hitman8081 wrote:not when i make tracksThe Chase wrote:Are you serious? cause you gotta be kidding me chase. fl studio needs freeze so bad freeze needs fl studio. lame on purpose
The unfortunate reality of computer production (or any modern compy usage) is that 'any old computer' just wont do.

tbh chase, I would like freeze to now that I have it on two other hosts...but I won't lose any sleep over it....tbh gol is smart, it gives people something to bitch about. The Chase wrote:I've never needed freeze, even when I had a 1.6ghz amd (old and slow). sry, some stupid questions:
automationclip (playlist) - make unique :
- does FL copy/connect a new (internal) link automaticly now?
could it be this: "Fixed wrong displayed hint for automation clips." ?
none new mixer- send addition?
thanks in adv.

Not in mono, but from a mono source, yes. Just set the same input(mono) from your soundcard on two consecutive tracks. Pan the first track hard left and the other hard right. Route them both to a third track. Tick the "rec" icon for that third track. Press record on the transport bar.Left Headphone wrote:Anybody tried to record in mono yet?
