I can host the samples. I want us to have uncompressed high quality ORIGINAL hits. No taking hits from any famous analog machine like TR909 or 808 or Yamaha or any of that crap. (ooh, did I just call the drum machines crap? :hihi:) Lets have a library full of completely original hits. You can submit any hits that you PERSONALLY created.
Guidlines:
If the recording is mono, convert the file to mono! Any use of things like chorus, ping-pong delay, stereo phaser, reverb especially, leave it stereo.
16 or 32 bit, 44100hz
Normalize to 0 or -3db
You must cut all the silence off. Leaving a tiny bit of silence at the end is ok, but is NOT ok at the beginning.
If you hear a click at the end of the sample, fade it out! Matter of fact, you should fade every sample a tiny bit at least
Samples should be without reverb unless it's needed for fx or misc or unavoidable.
THE NAMING SYSTEM:
name_hitname_number
note: use only up to 5 characters for your name.
example: archi_noise_01 or archi_kick_03
Tips:
Use ChannelGrabber and don't use Seek or Apply buttons. Simply raise the volume of your snyth so that it never goes beyond yellow.
Let ChannelGrabber autoname your recordings. Twiddle around in your synth and when you hear something good, hit record on ChannelGrabber, play your synth, hit stop on ChannelGrabber.
If you don't like what you recorded, do not go looking for the file. That's a waste of time. Just hit record again.
Once you got a bunch of random recordings, it's time to process them. First delete the recordings with silence (times when you pressed record and stop without playing your synth). Then delete all the mistake recordings.
Open your wave editor. Import as 16-bit or 32-bit mono 44100hz every file you recorded.
Delete beginning and ending silence.
Fade your sample out <-- Very important, even if it's a very quick fade and you can't hear the difference.
Normalize
Export
Name the files
Submit them to me.
The reason for the dry sample is so after the processing is done and the sample is submitted, we can apply reverb to each sample, resample it, and then have a wet and dry version. Reverb in a sample *really* helps the tweakability of it. But sometimes you don't want reverb.
Eventually after we get a lot of hits I want to organize them into a library. Right now I'm just using generic names so later on we can rename the samples and organize them. Note: If you submit a sample to me and it doesn't meet the guidline, I will process the sample myself. (If there's a click at the end, or if there's silence in the beginning, etc.)

This percussion will obviously be geared toward the general electronic music genres because we are not submitting realistic or multisampled recordings. Also, most of the percussion that will be submitted is probably going to require some tweaking to get the sound you want, and that's a GOOD thing.

i was under the impression that you had a good space - several gs with bandwidth sorted..
when i move and get set up again, i'll look into it. i might need to acquire some webspace is panicnow dies.
