I'd like to give this one a spin, but there seems to be something ...disagreeable with the zip: one of my machines sees the archive OK, but when I extract, nothing happens (Winace). The other machine (WinXP, native zip file handling...) says the archive is corrupted... Please advise?

Hi - apologies, it looks like the zip file must have been incomplete. I've just re-uploaded and tested it.

I agree. The Boogex is my new go-to tool for that distant space/bad radio reception type lofi sound. Simple distortion just fuzies things up or crushes beyond usefulness. Impulses maintain alot more of the melodic content better so you can still get the nicer kind of fuzz, but you can hear what was there to begin with to a better extent than you could with simple distortion it seems.

Any free responses you could name? can i get thema at noisevault? i'd like to give this a shot

Another thing you might try is ConcreteFX Buffered. Depending on the settings, it can do what is essentially sample rate reduction, and other things that sound similar. I was just playing with it in a flurry of "pick a plugin at random and do something with it" and remembered how awesome it can be.

...and Skarcord, that plugin is nice. Every once in a while I'm tempted to pick up a Bitrman from eBay, and have stopped myself every time just because I don't want to plug in hardware

Boogex is like Dr Frankenstein, and consider your drum loops to be your frankenstein once ran through it. Boogex can create a monster lo-fi sound.

I've got the Bitrman myself, and it's great, but obviously without some complicated (and messy) wiring, I can't easily process soft synths through it. Hence why I created this plugin. Of course, it doesn't have the Comb filters, ring modulation or decimator but I'm quite pleased with it all the same.

That's my first one I'm afraid, but I'm glad you like it. Hopefully, when I make the next one I'll actually know what I'm doing

As I mentioned above, there is still quite a lot more that the Bitrman can do, so I'll probably create a version which has the extra features such as ring mod etc.

Don't expect anything too soon though, programming is pretty hard when you have two babies in the house! (Youngest is 8 weeks, the eldest is 21 months - seemed a good idea at the time

)
