Hi Rhino users...I'm posting this here just in case you haven't seen the thread in the market place, as it doesn't really reference Rhino too much. The thread is HERE

It's a group buy for an massive ambient/backgrounds/textures/etc.. sample collection. So what does this have to with Rhino? I've personally made sure it is available in Rhino VFS format. This means, if you were to order it in Rhino format, you'd recieve a set of 7 VFS files (Rhino waveform files) that you simply drop into Rhino's waveform folder (located in the Rhino install directory). This will give you over 250 brand new stereo sampled (as independent L/R channels!) waveforms for use in your Rhino Vsti!

It's a nice collection, and i'm proud to recommend it. Plus, aside from Daniel Maurers fantastic work, there hasn't been much available by way of "Addons" for this vsti.

So, check it out, save a Rhino. :P

Peace 8)

Sounds like a really good deal but I don't have a DVD drive (yet).

lol, I don't either. Not on my studio computer. That's the last upgrade I have to make. I've been doing the conversion on my laptop.

I just got the Rhino version in the mail today... :D

I would love to make some presets for Rhino using Spacehawk, but has anyone else gotten the Rhino version?

Does rhino soundsets have their own proprietary format (like Wusikstation's WusikSND) or are they just wav files?

Rhino can use 2 formats....1 is a Rhino TXT definition file, tied to a bunch of wave files...the other, is the Rhino VFS file, which is just all the text files and their waves packed into one compressed file for easy distribution and isntallation (you just drop the VFS file in the waveform directory and it'll show up in the rhino waveform menu). The Spacehawk set is in .VFS format, and you can't extract the waveforms from the VFS file (that I know of at least)

and how does one create such a compressed .VFS file?

(Thanks Totc)

ah, that's easy. Well, sort of....Porting samples into rhino is a little tough at times...however, once you get the mapping down (it's all covered in the Rhino manual), you use the .VFS tool (which is available from the Private files area at the big tick website...big-tick sends you an email after purchase with a code for the private area...you then go and enter it into the little space on the bottom left of the site) to pack them...just open the vfs exe, a screen will come up..you drag all your text files there, and press save...it'll make them all for you. Actually very simple. It has an excellent comnpression ratio too.

Thanks Frank. I plan on creating samples and presets for Rhino - so thanks for the heads up.
