oh boy, I can't believe i'm about to ask this, but here goes nothing.....

ok, I got a m-audio radium keyboard and a m-audio audiophile usb soundcard......

since today, I never really wondered if it was useful (or necessary) to plug the MIDI OUT of the keyboard to the MIDI IN of the soundcard.....since I was stricly using reason 3.0, my keyboard easily controlled everything.....

but now, iM trying to have automation control over some of my VST's (in Sonar5) and I can't figure out how to control them with my radium keyboard.
(some of them work, they have a LEARN button, and i can assign them to a knob of my keyboard.....but some of them dont, (i'm currently trying to have OHM Mobilohm controlled by my radium and can't find a way)

so, is it related to the fact that i have no midi cables connected ?

i use to think my USB connections replaced the midi ones, but now i'm not so sure...........

oh, btw, what other types of things (if any) could I do if connect the two with a midi cables ?

can u believe i'm not actually new at this ?? (sad, very sad)

thanks in advance

i'm getting no love from you today

Not sure what your problem is exactly. Are you saying that some MIDI messages get through and others don't? If so, that's strange - maybe a driver issue?

No, you don't have to use a MIDI cable. The MIDI connection is established via USB if the drivers are installed properly.

If you're connected via USB there should be no problem transmitting MIDI from the controller to your VSTi host. The problem may more likely be that you don't have the MIDI controller knobs properly assigned to the controls you want to fiddle with. This hypothesis is supported by the fact that MIDI Learn is working on those synths that employ it. I don't know anything abouth Mobilohm, though, so I can't help with that specific product. But if it doesn't employ MIDI Learn, then you need to figure out what CC# is assigned to the synth functions you want to control, then set your keyboard controller knobs to transmit on that CC#. I've never done that, usually choosing to automate CC controls in the host sequencer, which isn't as spontaneous but it affords finer control.

Hit tne setup button on Mobilohm's GUI and choose MIDI/autobind. Then, click on what you want to control and move your controller.

Oh, and good seeing you here, Werner :)
