One of my most used features of cubase is the audio warp facility.

I'm not a great fan of cubase as it does crash way too often for my liking, But I'd hate to go back to a world without audio warp as it sorts out a lot of my timing errors.. especially my bad bass playing!

So my question is, do any other hosts have a similar feature?

ableton live. warp markers are incredible. i personally could not live (make music) without them

is Live actually like audio warp though?.. I thought live was about tempo matching.. as apposed to being able to take a wav and correct my bad bass timing through a song?

live is about many things. the amazing versatility of it's warp markers is unrivalled imo. and yes you can correct timming errors in bass playing (your cass) or beats. or you can use the markers and the different stretching algos (repitch, tones, texture, complex, beats) to creat weird, cool new effects.

Hey Ben...

Wouldn't it be simpler to fix the crashes? There's no reason Cubase should crash regularly (dodgy plugs withstanding).

I can't imagine Live will suit you somehow. Its loop handling is amazing, and warp markers are easier and quicker to use than Cubase's, but the linear sequencing element is far behind Cubase's in functionality.

maybe somebody will make a little standalone tool for doing this?

well the problem with cubase, I think, has a something to do with my processor as well, it seems to suffer from meltdown quite often and everything grinds to a halt on my pc. It's always done it with cubase.. some plugins cause it to happen regularly though. I believe it's the old floating point problem.

But the thing that really pissed me off with cubase is the last update (it might be a few updates ago now)... was really shite. It's performance was shockingly worse and the stability was shockingly worse too.. Which made me think that the product is getting less stable than better... (I think griels had the same problem with it too)

Eventually I'll upgrade my PC and when i do I was debating whether to stick with cubase or find something else.

probably won't be for a while mind.. I tend to sit on the fence for a long time before I take the plunge..
