all I know is if they implement audio editing AND sample slicing and mapping from with-in the clipview properties, as well as the ability to print efx on the samples with-in a clip all while maintaining the current clip abilities ie: clip envelopes and others,,,,,,,,

DAMN!!!!!!!!!

OMG :-o

Sounds very cool but I can't find the thread that talks about that. Was this announced by an ableton employee?

Post

oh no, i'm sorry for the misunderstanding, this is the feature that I am wishing for the most, it is not an feature that has been announced anywhere.

lol
they sound like realistic updates though

i want the lite version to just suck less for track count, shoot they could go up to like 16 audio tracks and not hurt them that much sheesh...

and is four inputs that bad to let people have?

i use 8 on my firepod but i could settle up with four....
I Don't own a PC!

One feature I would like to see in live would be additional ways to program clips into your arrangements... Or maby I should just RTFM.... I find it too time consuming to manually trigger clips.
I've recently moved to live, previously using my Yamaha RM1x for sequencing which I have since sold. I love lives clean non window based interface. That is one issue I always had with cubase (etc.) FL Studio, Cubase, Sonar... they all feel too crowded to me. Multiple screen support, and a way of defining custom colors for the skin would be cool featurs as well.

multi core and clip freeze...that's it for me.

hehe my fault! Anyway +1 for theses features. I especially want a mini sample editor. One of the things that always bugged me is the low amount of sample slots on the impulses. They could put an ABCD tab or something to get like 32 or more. Also The fact that you can't visually see where the sample begins like most drum samplers is little annoying. A little zoom button or something.

[fanboy mode] I really, really, really love Impulse, and use it on virtually every Ableton track... but yes I can see how those suggestions could make it even more amazing. [/fanboy mode]

You aren't think like your RM1X .

Think of each clip as a phrase.
Think of each horizontal (Scene in Ableton talk) row as a section (with as many tracks as you need).
At the end of each horizontal row is a SCENE trigger button.
Label each one Section A to Z or Verse Chorus Bridge Breakdown etc ....
Use midi learn to assign those to notes on your conroller keyboard.
Hit the Record Button on the top of session view to record into arranger and jam out your arrangement.
Go into arranger view and clean it up.
It's much faster and cleaner than the RM1X for working in this manner as you don't have to worry about a shitty pattern chain mode.
If you map track mutes / track panning and track volumes to control knobs and midi faders you can overdub record all your automation in realtime to arranger view also.
Read the manual - you are grossly underestimating the nature of the application IMHO.

Ive looked for more info about Live 6 all over the net. Cant find any, not even a hint.

Theres a lot of speculation over at ALDJ.

I love virtually all these ideas (especially the additional impulse slots and the audio editor) but the one really big thing I want in 6 is for it to be stable and for it to work straight away!!! Ableton have a wonderful product, so good I instantly stopped using FL Studio and only use Cubase for final arrangements and mixing down. But the whole Ableton experience is marred by erratic stability and bizarre CPU load issues.
Sorry to moan, it just upsets me that profit seems to be more important than quality.
End of moan........please carry on fantasising.
