I have a bunch of old projects for SX3 that used an old version of Kontakt. Since then, I've moved to a new system and have upgraded to Kontakt2.

When I load the old projects, it fails to load the previous version of Kontakt (since its location no longer exists).

How can I, where can I, dig in and modify the location where SX3 thinks Kontakt is installed and instead have it point at Kontakt2 for all those old references?

open up the instument rack (F11) load up kontakt2 and then on each unconnected midi track simply select kontakt2 as the output.

hope that is what you meant:)

Sort of :)

Ideally, what I'd like to do, is get down into a configuration file somewhere (it has to be somewhere right?) and have the location that's pointing to Kontakt, point to Kontakt2, so all old projects that use the old location of Kontakt will now point to Kontakt2 (which should also retain all the mutli/bank/settings etc I would think).

I've looked at the VST Plug-In inspector, where it lists all available plug-in's including the path they're pointing to, but can't modify the paths there.. which is just.. odd.

So, still need help I think.

Didn't you just get locked out of the Cubase forum for not not being legit?

Tsk, Tsk.

I got locked out because I didn't put my damn usb # in my profile.

Hard to do when you're at work :) I'll update it this evening.. hopefully they'll have some answers there.

You can't tell any host to open a different plugin, unless you do it manually.
Kontakt 2 is no update but an entirely new version. So, even if you would somehow manage to have it load automatically (which you won't), it'd still not load the appropriate patch.
Why don't you simply install K1 in addition?
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.
