Additive synthesis?

Tick,
Is there any chance you might consider taking that additive editor in Rhino and turning it into its own VSTi? Something a bit more basic, like a 2- or 3-OSC additive/subtractive VA synth, for us folks who just want a taste of what additive synthesis can do?
-David, just tossing out an idea.

That's the question everyone asks until somebody creates a really good one.Big Tick wrote:Does the world really need yet another VA ?
-David, who likes the "Baby Rhino" tag.

Not sure. Does it have the same additive waveform editor as Rhino? That's the feature I would want before I mess with it.realmarco wrote:long days ago where the pc days..so..wouldn't Rainbow fit the bill ?
-David, suddenly wondering if I've missed something.

I'm currently working on an additive synth. It started out as an attempt to replace my old Kawai K1 before it finally dies on me. Eventually I started adding features akin to the Kawai K5000, and then I began thinking of even wackier ideas...
As of now I've resynthesized all the K1 wavetables. Moreover, I've devised a way to translate these harmonic spectra to and from bitmap files. As such, you load up your paint program and just draw in whatever harmonic levels you might want. The coolest extension of this is that you can paint a greyscale image to depict morphing the spectrum *over time*. And don't just mean a simple A->B ramp (which I can do, as well), it can do pretty much anything you want.
I have no desire to make "another VA". I want to make something new.
Of course I've had my eye on Rhino. I'm hoping that someday I'll have a solid DSP base to show to Big Tick so that maybe, just maybe, we can collaborate on something cool and new.
