For me as great fan of his/their music from nearly the beginning it's still interesting which way Adam goes.
So I checked their Site again (since a half year or so)
'nd found there is a new downloadable Video:

Great and weird!

They're still together? Or is it just Adam at this point? I really liked Mark Pistel's first solo CD, and I didn't think they were working together anymore. Mark seems to spend more time hanging out with Jack Danger/Meat Beat Manifesto.

I was a big fan back in the day. I really liked the first EP and then The Myth of Rock. When the next CD turned out more HipHop and less Industrial, I wasn't too enthused. I did gradually warm up to it, and I have all their CDs up through Dropped. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, so I've had the opportunity to see them live several times... 4 times, to be precise. And I saw Mark play with MBM too, which was a very cool show.

Overall, I'd say their track record has been rather hit or miss from a musical standpoint, but you have to respect their intentions. Even if they are a little far out in left field.

I watched it. I'm just not sure what to make of it. :?

I just remembered I used to have a friend who knew Adam and his wife. She could have introduced me, but it never happened and we lost touch with each other. Anyway, she confirmed that Adam and his wife are a couple of crazed, hardcore vegans, and no one can measure up to their high standards of political correctness.  Kind of glad she never introduced us...

 I believe! Me interviewed Adam 1992 during "Make more music" and he appeared as very militant feminist :)
I still like the energy in this music (which is still in the video).
He went the Curtis Mayfield/Hendrix way after the hardcore public enemy-like recordings afterwards which I musically liked though.
But: Free music, free bikes? I don't get it.

'Friendly Fascism' was my daily spin back when it came out, couldn't get enough of 'Brutal Equation'.

I sort of lost them an album or two later, things changed, I changed, they changed...

Cool to hear 'they' are still doing it though. I'll check out the vid.

Mark Pistel's site is here:
http://www.pistel.com/

I highly recommend his first solo CD, "Pistel". It sounds nothing like Consolidated, but a very mature collection of electronic grooves, often with a slight suggestion of dub. If anything, it reminds me most of a chilled-out version of Meat Beat Manifesto.

I have no idea what happened to Phil, the drummer and third member of Consolidated.

The thing I remember most about their live shows was how they would stop the concert right in the middle for about 10-15 minutes, and engage in a political discussion with any audience members who wanted to participate.

Interesting turn, there are Videos, the message is "try the outernet" :)

I went through a period somewhat along the line he had...it really is something of a severe discipline to maintain.

I think I still have a few vinyl records of their stuff here...

aptly stated :)

i'm glad you posted. i think it was only this morning i said to myself "now i have internet, perhaps i can find out who josephine the singer is".

"america number one" is among the reasons consolidated were right on target. the fact that their music is pretty disposable too is kind of a kindness. gets the message across, doesn't hang around.

thanks to whoever decided to include them on the hard beat compilation.

This discussion is still around? I haven't heard any more about Consolidated since the last time I posted. Guess I'll go check out the site again...

I just clicked on this topic forgetting I contributed first time around... :)

The sites down so maybe Consolidated the entity has ceased to be.

Xoxos is right though, the message was a big part of their 'product'. Maybe not all their music stands up looking back but coupled with the politics, a pretty potent package,.
